I own a Caliber 2001 Model.
I was crazy for it then ..coz in its class only Splendour was available
which is too light in weight. I wanted something really unshakable.
I was happy with its sitting arrangement but the Pick-up is just pathetic.
I love to do stunts on roads and specially enjoy traffics instead of
highways where Pulsars and CBZs rules.
But to my nightmare I found My KBC(Kawasaki Bajaj Caliber) enemy of
wet roads skidding more than 7 times till date among which 2 were because of my
worms and rest of them blame it to its height and length. The bikez too tall
in height Im 5'11 so its OK but a 40 plus person like uncles and dad cant sit on it.
Secondly its too long horizontally which means the rider will be very
comfortable and the second person too leaving space in between which could be
just too dangerous.
Pick-up as I was talking about is so bad that I have to slow down my
speed to 20kmps while taking a turn.
Willy - Never ever try. I have tried but lost my clutch plates once and then
I had to go to the mechanic who then increased the pickup internally(
adjusting the screw near the engine which reduces your feul efficiency a
bit). But Its no good experience either.
Feul efficiency:-My My it was specified as 55+ on road but trust me
buddies I used to get 40-45 initially now after 14000 kms Im gettin 50+ which
will ruin your pocket.
Looks:- yup it looks good specially the black color. But could
have been much better if they had slanted the seating arrangement.
Max Speed:- 100-105 single seated and not more than 85-87 double seated.
Service:- I lost the trip meter reset button once when I had left it
over night at the service center. I observed that initially the service
was ok but the day since Pulsar and Eliminator were launched they paid more
attention to those big ones which is'nt fair.
Remind you the review I am posting is of the second model of
Caliber i.e 2001 after that Caliber Chroma and Caliber 115 are launched
which mite differ from the once stated here.
I would thus recommend you to buy Caliber only for the reason that its
Unshakable even at 105 kmph. Please avoid it if you are a born Pilot and
also avoid it if prefer one with a better grip to slant it more then 45
degrees while taking turns.
Anyways its up to you. To help you better I'll give you the specifications
of Kawasaki Bajaj Caliber.
