Katti Batti : A unique love story??

I went for Katti Batti because of the sweet pairing of Kangana and Imran in a love story.

Director Nikhil Advani has gone with a very old school formula of boy meets girls and then builds up a love story with some twist but taking modern age relationship style.

Story - The film starts with Madhav Kabra(Imran Khan) is being taken to the hospital because he has was going through a tough time and drunk phenyl by mistake.

His close friend and sister are with him in the hospital thinking that Madhav tried to commit suicide. After recovering Madhav explains them that he is done with Payal(Kangana) and drunk phenyl unkonowingly.

Then story goes in a flash back where Madhav and Payal in college studying architecture.

Payal is hot and happening and Madhav is a regular studious guy and not very popular.

Madhav sees Payal and love at first sight happens. At present the story is Madhav and Payal have broke up but Madhav still loves Payal and wants her back. The reason behind why they broke up is shown in parts in flashback sequences which has a little twist at the end.

The script does not have much potential and the simple story is streched for 2hr long movie. The plot has nothing much to offer and seems boring after sometime where you wait some twist to happen but nothing happens.

Performances - Imran Khan looks promising and belivable in his character and he is all over the film. Kangana has not much of a role but she is also quite good playing Payal.

Both are very convincing but they are trapped with the poor script of the movie.

Music - Music of the film is by Shankar-Ehshaan-Loy and the music is fantastic.

All the songs have different flavour and they  goes with the story. The picturisation of all the songs have been done beautifully. I like all the songs specially "sarfira" song which is a fast beat catchy no.

Direction - Nikhil Advani tried some different style of cinematography such as the 1st handycam sequence which looks nice. He manages to show the typcial romance and fight then brakeup in a convincing way but let down by the script.

Overall Katti Batti is not out of the box but a one time watch.
