Hello mouthshut friends, the Kalighat temple is a very old and religious temple for Hindus.
I have visited Kalighat temple several times as I am a local boy here.You would feel relaxed and I get a perception that Goddess KALI is really present in the temple.
This temple is a peacefup and charming place to be.I suggest you to go to this temple during evening during the time of sandhya aarti, at that time you would get the temple little vacant and get the darshan nicely.
Kalighat temple is one of the shaktipeeth and a holy temple having its history since 1809 built by Sabarna Roy Choudhary.It was a small hut then and now it has been converted to such a renowed temple.
It is belived by local people here that Goddess KALI has fulfilled their wishes and their mannat and even do I believe.
In terms of safety this temple is very safe .Their are police in the gate and everywhere in the temple .No fear of theft or robbery.
Their are quite a numerous number of resturants, hotels and famous Kalighat market.So it is not a place to be bored after visit to the temple.
You need to be careful with the pandas , they are very rude and clever .Firstly they compell you to take them for worship and asks for very high dakhshina.These Pandas do not even do the Puja properly .I would suggest you to worship by your own and deny the Pandas even when the ask.

If you ever visit West Bengal or Kolkata please do visit this charming temple, it is a mesmerizing place to be and will have a great experience is my surety.
Do not take help of Pandas for normal worship.They only say you to give money in this temple and other small temples inside the Kalighat temple .It would better to give that money to the beggars in the outskirts of the temple.Hope this review was helpful.
