On the eve of the music release our staff reporter(SR) ,for our monthly magazine-FilmFarce, got the opportunity to talk to Karan Johar(KJ) .excerpts from the interview :
KJ : please be rooted .. I mean seated .
SR : Thanks. How are you sir ?
KJ : bhai main toh aadmi hoon , wo bhi sharif ,Nawaz Sharif se bhi zayada sharif.
SR : Tell us something about the movie .
KJ : yeah, actually I was thinking of making a movie on the plight of those who subscribed to the cellular service provider CellOne ,because with Cellone you are never sure -Call ho na ho, thus the name .I got the idea after seeing Shane warne's plight ,network busy , you know ,uska kaam nahi chalta hai.But the Idea (not !dea) was not commercially viable .
SR : So tell us something about KHNH.
KJ : My philosophy is - you never know whether there will be a tomorrow so publish tomorrow's breaking news today . One fine morning you wake up and see you name in the Obituary column ,you passed away in you sleep and came to know of your death this morning !! That's the irony .
This is a Love triangle .We'hv SRK,saif and Priety in lead role .CO-accidently SRK and Saif both fall flat for Priety aur ab yahan dono ko Priety chahiye ,Zinta ya murda
SR : But sir , why in a populous country like ours , two or three guys should haggle over the same girl ?
KJ : Good question . 5 points .
SR : It's heard that Rani , Kajol and a host of actor/actress are making guest appearance .
KJ : incoming free hai yaar!!
SR : Who's Nikhil Advani ?
KJ : He's my childhood friend since three months .
SR : kahin ye ...Lal Krishna Advani ke ...Dadaji toh nahi ?
KJ : No man ! I don't understand who's spreading these rumours . He isn't LKA's grandpa.
SR : toh kya granny hai !
SR : Who gave the music for the movie ? SEL ?
KJ : yup . They are hugely talented guys , you see . We have one 'main Anu Malik banna chahta hoon'song in the movie - Preety women .
SR : You mean plagiarism ?
KJ : Jhulelaal !!Dhirubhai said 'Why Not', Adnan bhai said 'Life kare de' (Bharat bhai is not in a position to say anything , he is busy singing 'TADA laga')so here we have - Why not Lift kara de !. Thus the song .
SR : And singers ?
KJ : All of them .Initially Shaan and KK were creating some trouble . Some guy named N.R.25chiya picturised the title track on them so now they are like 'Hum dono Aamir khan banna chahte hain' and were demanding that the title track be picturised on them .But everything is fine now .
SR : How many songs are there in the movie ?
KJ : 7 . 4 original and 3 'original' . Got it ?
SR : Something about the lead actors .
KJ : You can see SRK is looking trimmer , we decided to 'firmly put his food down' and Saif -he 'plays it saif'.
SR : Why you delegated the job of direction to Nikhil.A?
KJ : I was quite busy doing some research . I'hv developed 'something' which will help you see through the walls.
SR : Wow !! What do you call that 'something'?
KJ : Window.
SR : And the tagline - 'One of them will die'?
KJ : Jhulelaal !! This isn't our tagline . This is from some another movie ,just watch the protagonists ,they bear a close resemblance to Bounced cheque.
SR : Thanks a lot sir . We wish you all the luck .
KJ : Thanks .

MUSIC REVIEW

This album was easily one of the most eagerly awaited album and has surely failed to live up to the expectations . I'm of the view that SEL composed most of the songs while sleep-walking .The music director duo of Jatin-Lalit are best suited to give music for 'such' movies .They composed the songs for KKHH (which went on to become the biggest hit of the year) and again for K3G(though the best song was composed by Sandesh Sandilya).The trio,undoubtedly,are immensely talented and they have proved it with some great music in DCH,Ye kya ho Raha hai,Mission Kashmir,Aarman and Kuch na kaho,something went wrong here .I mean the music is good but we had great expectations.We were expecting much more than what has actually been offered.Read on -
[1] Kal Ho Na Ho -(Vocals-Sonu Nigam)5/5 - The saving grace . This one's easily the best song of the album .Typical Johar/Chopra soft number .For once all(SEL,JavedA and Sonu ) decided that they are going to give their best shot ,probably because 'kal ho na ho'!!. JavedA has penned some philosophical wordings ,well sung by Sonu Nigam ,this song is sure to rock the charts .
Live life today ,do what you want to .May be you won't have a life to repent later !
[2] Maahi Ve - (Vocals- Udit.N,Sonu.N,Shanker.M,Sadhna Sarman) 2/5 - If you don't like this song blame it on 'Maahi ve'- the song from the movie Kaante. Typical punjabi number , a must for such movies . It has nothing official about it .The same old story - you tease me , i'll tease you and when we'll have enough of it we will fall in love . Ordinary lyrics ,ordinary music and just ok vocals .
<b.[3]Kal ho na ho -(Vocals-Sonu.N,Alka.Y and Richa Sharma)3/5 - Die another day. Live enough listen to the sad version of the title track . KKHH and K3G both had sad versions of the title track so per the law here we have the sad version of the title track KHNH. 'shadi ho rahi hai kise ke shayad' .The song is just ok ,lyrics'quite good. May be we will like it more after we have seen the movie .
[4]It's time to disco-(Vocals -KK,Shaan,Loy,Vasandhura)3/5 - Which reminds me it's time for 'khiskoo'. The problem is that when you are trying to recreate the magic of your previous hit(koi kahe) it will be compared to that particular song and this song falls flat in comparision . With some very ordinary lyrics,it's just a good time pass song .
[5]Heartbeat,Instrumental-3.5/5 - Something like DCH's theme ? just forget it .Guess what it was my favourite track so what if it was just a instrumental piece ,so what if it reminds you of Armageddon's theme music , it was really enchanting . Here we have the title track played using various instruments.Soothing .
[6]Preety Women(vocals-ShankerM)3/5 - Play it again Sam ! 'ek ar punjabi number?'Well they think this song's gonna become a trend-setter ,i ain't sure . But that's for sure this will be a rage in Discos . It has a different mood , you are either going to like it a lot or dislike it a lot , nothing in between .
[7]Kuch toh hua hai (Vocals -Shaan,Alka) 3.25/5 . After the roring success of Kuch based themes - Kuch toh hai ,Kuch -kuch hota hai ,Kuch na kaho we bring to you kuch toh hua hai . It's not a song sung by some doctor to his patient . It's just a decent melodious song .Sung exceedingly well by Shaan and Alka.Y .This one's for those jinhe kuch kuch hota hai.
