Hmm...Bollywood is certainly changing! You never know...which movie is the original one or which is copied. Earlier, our very own Bollywood lifted concepts from Hollywood and named it 'Inspiration' and now when they are stealing plot from Bollywood itself...I wonder what would they call this...'Innovation'?
Kal Ho Naa ho is a movie of a person spreading happiness even when he himself is an inch away from death. Basic concept has been purely lifted or 'inspired' by the classic, Anand. The whole story is wrapped by a thick cover of melodrama...sorry to say but here goes another chance by the industry.
It's a movie of Aman Mathur, Naina Catherine Kapoor and Rohit. Naina is a girl-next-door...who doesn't know to enjoy her life...to smile...to make friends. Aman comes in her life and help her enjoy the little moments...she falls in love with him and so does Aman but Aman doesn't want her to reveal this and to tell her that he will be dying very soon. Aman seeks help from Rohit, who secretly loves Naina. Aman makes Naina agree to marry Rohit...but everyone gets to know that Aman has a heart problem which doesn't have a cure. After knowing this, Aman and Naina...both confess their love but Naina marries Rohit and Aman dies.
A lots and lots of melodrama has been put to make the movie appealing to mass...although, as a debut director...Nikhil Advani has done a good job but no where we can see his own style! It seems as if the director is in aura of Karan Johar...
Huge sets, designer costumes and unrealistic problems makes this movie just like any other one. Anand had a vision and pain behind happiness but this movie lacks this sense.
The movie has a fast pace and kinda interesting & emotional. The foot-tapping numbers makes this movie watchable despite of it's jerks.
Whatever, I would suggest you to carry a hanky in the theatre...no matter what...you are bound to cry!!
