Kailash parbat is one of those vegetarian restaurants who survive purely on posterity. Visit any mall and you'd find Kailash Parbat in the food court, with mega-sized posters of mouth-watering food items from chats to chole-bature. While these internet-sourced, photoshopped, larger than life posters can get your anticipation aroused, nothing can prepare you for the disappointment that follows.
The decor, posters and adverts will try convince you that KP serves the world's best vegetarian food. The pricing would try to reconfirm it - with everything being priced at double to triple the normal price for an item. At Rs.105 for a dahi-puri consisting of only 6 pieces of puris, and Rs.210 for a plate of Chole-bature which served barely enough chole, you would atleast expect tastes which would at least do justice to the high charges. Unfortunately, the tastes turned out to be way below average. The chole was served cold and the bature were too stretchy. My office canteen serves better chole-bature than this so-called premium restaurant. The dahi-puri was nothing worth mentioning either. I've had much better dahi-puri at smaller joints like Juice Junction.
And did I mention Service Charges and VAT? Yes, food kiosks at malls are exempt from SC and VAT since they do not fall under the category of air-conditioned restaurants and do not provide any service to the customers. Mall kiosks are purely self-service units, there are no waiters, no service and the infrastructure like chairs, tables, air conditioning etc belongs to the mall. So the fook kiosk only serves the food and does not provide any other service. When I brought this to the notice of the person at the counter, he was speechless and had no answers. I did not argue further - the clueless cashier would really not be in a position to answer me and the managing staff would not be at liberty to disclose this information.
I wish good luck to KP to continue their business on the basis of photoshopped posters and dishonest charges. I wouln't visit them again.
