Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (K3G) means Sometimes happy sometimes sad - and what a film it is!!!
When I first found out that Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor were going to be in I knew it was going to be BIG!!!
I live in Colchester; and we don't normally get Indian films, in the cinema! - And I was shocked and excited to hear my find say that K3G was playing!
I'd seen clips of it on channel 5 - and they looked wicked and I just couldn't wait!
The film starts. .. . . . The first thing we see is Rohan (Hrithik Roshan) playing cricket, we hear him think about what his brother says to him (we find out later on why) Its the last day of college for Rohan, but before he goes back to home, he goes and visits his ''2 girlfriends'' - (his grans) There we see a traditional prayer happening. Rohan meets up with both grans, but one is crying! - Why? - He asks himself! - He later hears why.. He over hears his grans talking about Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) was adopted, and that he got married to a poor girl named Anajli (Kajol) We then fly back into the past - and we see the young Yashovardhan Raichand (Amitabh Bachcan) and his wife (in the film and real life) Nandini (Jaya Bachchan) comforting their son -they just told him that he had been adopted. Any way - we see their MASSIVE house and then we hear Nandini sing the title song ''Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham'' - (the songs in K3G are really groovy)
Later on, Rahul (just returned home for Dilwale) meets a bubbly, and loveable girl from Chandni Chowk, her name is Anajli (Kajol) At first sight Rahul falls deeply in love with Anajli, and what a pair they make!!
BUT .. . . . . Rahul's father has already planned Rahul’s wedding, with his friend (shock horror!!!) - Rahul tells his Dad, that he doesn't love his friend, he loves Anajli. His dad tells Rahul, to go and tell Anajli that he doesn't really love her! Rahul agrees
Rahul goes to Chandni Chowk, and sees Anajli's father dead, and beening carried away, Anajli is HEARTBROKEN - how could Rahul tell her that he doesn't love her? - Instead he walks straight up to her, and raises her head, (we see little clip-its of them getting married)
The next scene is at Rahul's house, and we see Yash standing their, he tells Rahul that he's not his blood and not his son (this is the really sad part - I think everybody was crying in the cinema at this point) Rahul's mum can't cope with what Yash is saying, and goes and pray - hoping that Rahul doesn't go. Rahul goes and gets his mother and says good-bye. While this is going on, Yash hasn't even moved to look at his daughter-in law. We see scene of Anajli crying, and the sound music (the sad version of kabhi khushi Kabhie gham) ties everything in.
Rahul's mother gives Anajli, her bangles, and make sure Rahul doesn't cry again. Rahul and Anajli leave. Anajli cries at Rahul that they haven't got their fathers blessing (at this point everybody was crying in the cinema)
We are swept back to the present day, and Rohan goes back to his home, for Dilwale, just him, his mum and dad, NOT his brother or sister-in-law. His aim: to get the family back together.
Rohan finds out that they have moved to London, and there he goes
Does he find Rahul and Anajli?
Do they all return home?
Is there a happy ending?
YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO WATCH THE FILM!!!
