What happens when you fall in love after your marriage? Aha to be more precise, what happens when you feel to love someone alike who actually isn’t your spouse? Well it’s not a new topic to discuss about but that’s what Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna has to offer with the major shimmering stars of bollywood playing the leads.
A story completely set in U.S. this is a life about the Sarans and Talwars.
The Saran’s comprise of Kamaljit Saran (Kiron Kher), her son Dev (Shahrukh) and his wife Rhea( Priety Zinta). Whereas Talwars are headed by Samarjit Singh Talwar (Amithab Bachan), his eldest son Rishi (Abishek Bachan) and wife Maya (Rani Mukherjee). No, everything is not fine between the two couples. They do have their ups and downs yet they try adjusting with each other.
An unusual incident changes Dev’s life and he begins pointing out negatives on everything around him. Dissatisfied with his life Dev begins neglecting to enjoy even the smallest pleasures in life. Nothing and nobody could occupy Dev’s heart until Maya enters into his shattered life. Maya itself had been set out with her own handicaps unable to see anything pleasing in her own marital life. Her problems of the non ability to become a mother and her being conscious of not loving her husband well enough makes her feel the surroundings around dry and fake.
A bright sun rises in each of their lives when both of them confide in each other and begins realizing that they require one another desperately to forget the troubles and tensions they are undergoing. Their passion increases and reaches a situation that they cannot part each other. Life moves on slowly and smoothly until it starts creating doubts in the minds of Rhea and Rishi. Rhea though an elegant, prosperous and compassionate individual gives due respect to her career rather than her family life. Rhea does have love in her heart for Dev but never took up the opportunity to spend and share her feelings with him. Rishi too loves his wife more than anyone in his world but a sudden barrier is created between them when he comes to know about her not able to conceive a child. Unable to receive the love they are looking for Maya and Dev believe they were the ones that God forgot to unite.
Four lives pointing with different attitudes and conclusions, none are wise enough to sort the problem to a successful ending. Here is when the elders of the family (Samarjit and Kamaljit) fold their sleeves to work out the drastic situation their children are facing.
Well to be honest I will not say that neither is it unique nor is it an amazing plot. Marital life and its problems…an unmarried guy falling in love with an married women or a married lady having fascination over an elder man…these have been discussed before and will be discussed in years to come. But what is making the audience impatiently await for the release is the beautiful and brilliant star cast. A movie packaged with all the best actors available presently in bollywood, it is to assured that this movie is not to going to disappoint anyone afterall. And I would reccomend to watch it only because of this reason.
The movie comprises of 6 songs on the total directed by Shankar-Ehasaan-Loy team. “Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna” and “Tumhi Dekho Naa” were both sung by Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik. “Rock ’N Roll Soniye” is the only song that features all the four characters together. The other songs in the movie are “Mitwa”, “Where’s The Party Tonight” and “Farewell Trance”.
Before I end up I wanted to share a few sneak peaks relating this movie which I had come across. Many of you might have read it somewhere online so these are for those who haven’t come across it yet. Originally Karan wanted to cast Kajol and Ajay Devagan who were later replaced by Priety and Abishekh. There is a guest appearance made by Arjun Rampal in the movie who was also casted in place of John Abraham. There are rumors as well that movie has been adapted from a Hollywood flick “Closer” and Yash Chopra’s movie “Silsila” both of which has been regretted by Karan.
Time can only say whether the movie is going to be a hit or not but it is certain that this movie shall be among those that can never be told ’goodbye’….
