I bought JVC GRD53 camcorder for around Rs 17,000. I am very much pleased with the performance. It is 0.8megapixels, 1ccd camera, 16X optical zoom, 40X digital zoom. Its minidv model, all vdo recorded in mini dv tape. Low light vdo is excellent for this model and in automoatic mode it is very simple and can be used by anyone.
However if u need to make more adjustments then manual mode is available for various settings. This model has 16X optical zoom which is the best u can get at this price combined with 40X digital zoom. There is snapshot mode through which u can click photos which is not of much use with a very low resolution pictures. It has got AV connector to connect to TV, where camcorder can be used as a player with remote controller for basic operations.
There is a USB connector fro downloading into system which however is pretty useless as it is very slow. The usb can be used for webcam option. The firewire port is available for fast downlaod vdo into system but neither the cable nor the IEE1394 card was supplied.
The battery life was ok with 1 hour LCD on, extra 3 hr battery will come veyr handy for outdoor shooting. The model GRD33 with same features available without USB connector and remote.
This model is less than Rs.2000 which is worth to buy than any other model. The high end models GRD73 and GRD93 comes with same features with added SD memory card for snapshots.
