Expectations were high from JHOOM BARABAR JHOOM with director Shaad Ali working again with Abhishek-Yashraj Banner after the blockbuster Bunty Aur Babli .So does the movie live upto the expectation?Yes TO an extent! But it still makes up for an entertaining watch despite its shortcomings.

It tells the story of Rikki Thukral(Abhishek Bachchan) and Alvira Khan(Preity Zinta) who are forced to share a table in a crowded café at a London station. While Rikki is born in Bhatinda and lives in London, Alvira is more Brit with Lahori blood in her veins. Both of them are engaged and have come to pick up their fiancés who are coming by the same train.

But the train gets delayed and they end up telling each other their "how I met my fiancé" stories to kill time.Rikki met his fiancé Anaida(Lara Dutta) at The Ritz(Paris), the same night that Princess Diana and Dodi walked out of the hotel and into the paparazzi.

Alvira discovers her prince at Madame Tussaud's. When a gigantic wax model of Superman falls from the ceiling, Alvira is a sitting target. But Steve(Bobby Deol), a lawyer by profession, saves her life but steals her heart. They fall in love.

Their brief encounter creates a complicated quadrangle. Rikki and Alvira have gotten themselves and Steve and Anaida into a lovely mess.

The initial reels of JBJ are devoted to establishing the key characters in the film. The focus is on light moments and songs and the outcome is mediocre. But it is the intermission that catches the viewer unaware. There is a big twist in the tale .The second half is actually the soul of the film and elevates the film to a new level .The film has some of the craziest Situation ever witnessed On Indian screen. As a director shaad Ali proves himself yet again .His only matra seems to be the non-stop entertainment and succeeds big time on that!

Technically, the movie is simply fantastic. Camerawork is simply dazzling to say the least. It captures the look and feel of the movie simply superbly, and creates the right kind of ambience needed for this movie.

Abhishek looks his part and does quite well. However, the actor needs to get his make-up right. His costumes are disastrous. Bobby looks suave and carries off his part with confidence. His comedy in the second half was just too good but how I wish his role was longer .

Preity Zinta was good .One thing to make clear upfront is that this is not a difficult role at all.Lara Dutta looks hot .Amitabh is wasted.Ruffy Bhai was hilarious!

SEL’s music is not at par with the hit score of bnb, but a couple of tracks stand out nonetheless. ‘Jhoom’ is the best track; both the versions are notable. ‘Bole Halke’ is another tuneful composition and the orchestration is striking. Fav Scene

-The title song

-The sequence between Laila and Satvinders

-The princess diana funeral scene

-All the scene involving ruffy bhai

On whole JBJ is no masterpiece, but it’s without doubt a watchable film. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!
