This is the story of con man Vicky thukral & Alvira Khan. They meet at a railway station, sharing a table in the cafe. This is a story of how the two, who start off on a conversation just like that happen to fall in love with each other, after listening to each others stories.of how they met their fiances.
There is a little bit of friendly indo-pak friendly fire, between the two, since VT is reportedly Indian & AK is Pakistani. Preity does bring on a little bit of Veer Zaara looks here .Anyways, the gist of the story is that each narrates a story, of how they first met and fell in love with their Fiances.
After the stories are through, VT asks AK to contemplate what would have happened between them, had they not met their loved ones before. And before you know it, they have fallen for each other.
And what about their own respective fiances. Well, they are as non existing as the story of this film. Yet even after this disclosure is done, The couple do not meet. The director has to bring a little heartbreak an. So we have a twist. To prove to each other that their stories are true, VT teams up with a hooker, played excellently by Lara Dutta and AK teams up with Steve(Satvinder) Played quite well by Bobby Deol. Incidently, in the stories cooked up earlier, Lara Plays AB' s Fiance and Bobby plays Preity's fiance.
More agony in store, as we have the couples going on against each other at a dance competition.
This song went on.the jhoom barabar with the four stars.psychedelic lights, bizarre camera moments, only accentuated the songs words. My head kept reeling, at times I just kept my eyes closed. And most of us in the audience were just waiting for the film to end.
Of the cast, Lara looked just good, Preity looked good too.AB was decent, and Bobby did not have a meaty role But was good. The talent that was wasted was AB Sr. He rocks in the song Udti .jhoom barabar. And that was the only highlight of the movie, that remains with you when you come out.
Music, only the first track in the movie stands out. Rest Is Jarring.
Cinematography - lots of 360 degree turns, leaves ur mind reeling as does psychedelic lights used often. The pan, tilt positions are also painful( all in songs)
There was also a little bit of magic in the movie. This happens, when VT and AK dare each other to do things normally they would not do .So AK runs up a descending escalator and VT, agrees to get hinself tattoeed likePreity, But smart VT says he will not till he sees the Tattoo. And so AK shows it to him.a butterfly on the left side.MAgic.In a latter scene, the same butterfly appears on the right. wow. That is magic.
Movies with Masala.a good movie - Main hoon na. An avoidable movie - Jhoom Baraabar Jhoom.
Even as I am narrating this .my head is reeling with the memory of this absolutely forgettable film.
Just for infor VT=Abhishek, AK= Preity.
This would be avery small review.thats cos there is nothing to write about. I loved the end.thats because, my agony ended too
Avoid.
