I am a frequent flyer, and mostly fly private airlines and avoid Air India.
This is a review based on the experience I had with Jet Airways.
This Airline is the most money robbing entity in India for the following reasons.
You can never trust their punctuality. Due to external factors like their corporate crew traveling on the same plane, or some political stalwarts on the same flight, there could be a delay in flight, and these people are least apologetic. Once I had to wait for more than 2 and a half hours for a cochin to Chennai flight, due to some internal fight between the pilots.
You book a flight with Jet thinking that you had value for money, that's wrong.
Case One: You had a change in plan and want to cancel and get the fare refunded. This isn't going to happen. Because the cancellation amount will always be more than the booking amount. I had this embarrassing issue when I had to cancel the flight and there was still 18 days left. But the Cancellation amount was more than the booking amount, and so I won't get a single penny refunded. No other flight in the world has this behavior of leeching blood from their guests.
Very erratic ground crew. If you have any issue while check in(their web check in servers are down most of the time), there is hardly any chance of catching the flight. One of my fellow passengers had some issue with his cab and came late some 20 mins, only to find the ground supervisor not allowing him to board the flight.
In case your flight got canceled, you'll be the last one to be informed. No Emails, no SMS. The Airline cancels the flight, denies any refund, and also'just doesn't care'! If you want to go ahead with the travel plans, you'll have to inquire, learn from news, study, and learn from the airline's mistakes.
"Jet Airways, You cause INCONVENIENCE to us and you expect us to write emails and make several calls to you?"
Still worse, is Baggage Handling. There are multiple aspects of Jet Airways' Baggage handling. One=>Your fault. You have some 4 Kgs of extra on your check-in luggage. The gentleman(?) at the check-in counter is least forgiving, and won't allow a Kg or gram extra. He once told me. Throw out your baggage in the dust bin or just get outa' here. Rude! Two=> Airways Fault. The bags never arrived to be picked up after we're done with the travel. Jet Airways will send your Baggage in a most unprofessional and insecure ways. Even with a public transport system, unassisted. Three=> Baggage Theft. This is the most alarming part when u travel this Airline. Once we lost a Philips Electric Shave, A Pocket Hard Disk, some PS3 Games pack and an MP3 player. Handpicked!
Rude Flight attendants: Rude or stupid Air attendants make your travel real hell. They are even worse than those ladies in a market who speak foul. I have had flight delays more than a half dozen times with Jet India, but not even once I've heard a word of apology.
Other aspects.
Check-in counter: some neatly dressed attendants around. that's all. no grace in handling guests. No helps offered to the aged helpless passengers. Very rude supervisors. If u r late by 10 mins, they are least tolerated.
Flight Attendants: If you are seriously on time and boarded, that's it. Nothing special here.
Seating space: Seating pitch is so much less and tight. These people save big on tissues, drinking water and such essential stationary. Not very neatly maintained. The flight floor wasn't cleaned properly, and there were some patches of chocolate(sauce?) on the sides of the seat which stained my dress.
Punctuality: Not so good. If you are lucky, the flight I'll be on time and leave on time. If there are any VIPs, the flight could be delayed as much as 2 hours. I never experienced this with any other flight operators.
