Nobody at this hospital gives a damn

If you care about your family or friends, DO NOT take them to Jaypee Hospital, Noida. My experience was a nightmare that left my entire family stressed out, even after we got home. We went in for a simple gallbladder surgery, expecting a quick turnaround, but instead, we were tortured every step of the way. It’s downright terrifying to think about anyone being admitted for a life-threatening condition here. I’m just lucky I was there for my mother, but what about parents with no one to help them? They could seriously suffer or even die in this hospital because nobody at the hospital gives a damn!

Positives first - The only good thing here was the surgeon(Dr. Abhishek Goyel)—he knew his stuff and was easily reachable, but honestly, I wish he finds a better place to work.

1. ROOM AVAILABILITY and ROOM CONDITION:

a. We had an appointment a week in advance, and when we arrived, we waited for TWO HOURS just to hear there was no room. The patient was already starving for 12 hours, and we were left scrambling to figure out if we needed to find another hospital.

b. Then, when they finally shoved us into a multi-ward, it was disgusting. Blood spots everywhere, and nobody seemed to care about cleaning anything.

c. In the multi-ward, there weren’t even chairs for attendants, the rooms were disgusting, and nothing worked—locked charging ports, non-functioning call bells.

2. PRIVACY AND SAFETY:

a. A male staff member simply entered when the patient was getting ready for OT and having her pubic hair removed. The patient got so uncomfortable, and no one bothered to apologize.

b. Also, I was horrified to see a male using a wash basin for urination in the women’s restroom! When I reported it, the receptionist just shrugged and said, “Oh, I’m sorry to hear that”.

c. The patient washrooms were a joke. Water everywhere made it a slipping hazard.

3. STAFF MEMBERS:

a. Nursing staff was utterly incompetent. They couldn't even read prescriptions, leading to all sorts of dangerous mix-ups with medication. I can’t believe how clueless they were—no answers to basic questions.

b. Every request felt like pulling teeth. After the surgery, I asked for a simple blanket since my mom was freezing, and it took them an hour to bring it!

c. While moving my mother from the ward to the OT, they wheeled her on a bed instead of using a wheelchair and they crashed the bed into doors multiple times without caring.

d. They messed up her diet too, giving her the wrong food instead of soft options. Thank God the doctor caught that.

e. And when it came time for discharge, we waited over FIVE HOURS because they had no clue how to process billing. Even after the discharge we kept getting calls from the TPA.

f. The nurse even lost some of our reports because everyone out there is highly unorganized; cannot even manage a folder.

g. Every time I asked staff for help, they just passed me off to someone else, creating an endless cycle of incompetence. Even basic questions like when dinner would be served to the patient? They just shrugged and said, “Whenever it comes.”

h. Basically, every single person we dealt with—accounts, admissions, nursing, TPA—was utterly useless. Seriously, who hired these people? Even if the doctors are decent, the staff’s incompetence could easily lead to disaster because they can’t even read prescriptions correctly! Every single person out there is highly unprofessional, incompetent and sadist!

4. PARKING: It’s paid and the valet charges are whatever they feel like, without a receipt!

5. OUTSIDE FOOD: I was fasting for Navratri and couldn’t bring my vrat food inside, because this is the only thing they’re strict as hell about. Just ridiculous that they have security guards at every possible corner checking bags for food. They should assign at least one guard at each of the restrooms so that men do not urinate in women's restrooms.

6. COMMUNICATION:

a. After the surgery, I got a frantic call from the OT telling me to rush over. I asked if everything was okay, and they insisted I hurry because the doctor needed to talk to me. My sister and I ran over, but guess what? Security didn't allow my sister to use the lift because she had a guest pass instead of an attendant pass. When we told the guard the doctor called for us, she just said to have the doctor to convey the message on a walkie-talkie. I wanted to punch that guard in the face! When I finally got to the OT, I asked where my mom was, and they just told me to wait without giving any info. After 30 minutes of this nonsense, they casually said the doctor was in OPD and I could go there. I was so ready to lose it, but I somehow kept my cool and ran to the OPD. Luckily, the doctor reassured me everything was fine, but those clowns at the OT had no idea how to communicate to worried family members!
