I saw Jab We Met completely unaware of the story and plot and was
hoping that the film makers roll out something fresh and interesting
since I was worried that there may be some typical bollywood cliched
stuff. But 30 mins into the movie and I was well engrossed and feeling
happy with some fresh, lively and engrossing stuff. What followed till
end was even better - very frothy and light fun filled movie with
amazing music. I really would like to thank the filmakers here to make
me feel good after watching a movie. In all, Jab We Met not only met my
expectations, it really exceeded. Go watch it for all those who havent
yet done.
Before
watching the movie, one thing I already liked about this movie was the
music given by Pritam. And the music seems even better while watching
the movie and I loved it altogether. Great work from Pritam and Imtiaz
Ali.
The movie is a story of 2 people whose lives
cross over in a train - A dejected from life rich heir business man
Aditya( played by Shahid) and a talkative, happy go lucky girl Geet(
Kareena). Both have contrasting characters and what follows is how the
happy carefree nature of Geet helps Aditya find the true meaning of
life and makes him realize how to live it and not leave it. At the same time Geet realises certain tough to accept realities of life and with Aditya’s help gets to understand to take it practical while going easy in life. So both characters compliment each other and make a difference in each others lives leading to a happy ending.
To
say this, it sounds a simple short story. But what makes the film so
good is the nice flowing nature of the film integrated with great humor
and great music all along. Not once does the film bore you or makes one
feel that any segment is stretched. This speaks volumes of the
director’s ability here. The humor is great and is natural but not
forced. The scene where Kareena is going on talking to Shahid in Train
and continues even in sleep is great, so is the scene where kareena
asks the TT - " bhai sahab aap convince ho gaye hain ki mein aur
boloon" . There are many such great comedy scenes which keep the film
very entertaining throughout.
About the performances, Kareena
delivers her best to date without doubt. She does it so well this time
that the role seems made for her. The scene where she jumps into the
car to catch the train and urges the driver to go fast is fantastically
done. I have never previously seen Kareena deliver such natural and
immaculate performance. But in this film she delivers. Shahid plays his
part of the composed character very well too and proves that he is now
well established in the industry. Tarun Arora as Anshuman does a great
job though his character has a small role. He does his best to play the
out of sorts loser in the end. Well done Tarun as he does justice to
his character.
One more person who deserves special mention from
the overall cast is the receptionist at hotel decent( Teddy Maurya).
In a 2 min role he proves his acting ability. The way he asks "aapko
room ghante ke hisab se chahiye", the facial expression, the voice
pitch, its perfect.
The film also gives good life
message and is a winner all around. The end though simple is so well
thought off(with the confusion in Geet’s household with Aditya and
Anshuman) that one cant stop to say that Imtiaz Ali is a talent
bollywood needs. To mention music again, Pritam delivers best yet
again. The songs Mauja and Yeh Ishq hai are great and are playing
everywhere but the song that really touched me is "Tumse se hi " sung
by Mohit Chauhan. All I can say is what a song! amazing.
This film makes one feel nice from inside and all should watch it. For those who havent yet seen this movie all I can say is that "aap convince ho gaye hain ki mein Aur likhoon!
