There are two reasons why I went to see this movie inspite of the much under rated reviews I read. Firstly mouthshut was involved in making this movie & secondly I was quite intrigued by the title "its breaking news". So off I went to the mall with a happy face & came out with a sad face, cursing the director & wanting my 150 bucks back.
Well, this one is surely a spoiler. The thought behind making the movie is noble but the execution is a major let down. It could have emerged as a real sensational movie had it been handled by experienced directors like Madhur Bhandarkar, but director Vishal just doesnt know where to hit the audience. It wouldnt have hurt if he would have done his research properly before jumping in to make the movie. Also the cast is very amateurish. Their performance is not at par, is way below the expectations of the junta.
You can say this movie is a sequel of Page 3, where Konkana Sen Sharma is tired of covering the page 3 people & she is moved to cover the crime beat. In "its breaking news" Koel puri(vidya) is in charge of covering the crime beat by carrying out sting operations. She carries out her sting operations brilliantly. One fine day she gets a call from Sangeeta(Swati sen) from pune who is a victim of sexual abuses by a cop. She tells her about the corrupt police officials. Vidya along with her team chalk out the entire sting operation but in the process she gets trapped between the TV channels trying to out do each other for increasing their TRP's at the cost of morals, values & ethics. She finds it very unethical & gets entangled in her own web. Also the movie is about poaching, where Bala(a journalist) works for dateline channel on one day , the next day for sach tv & the next week for hum log channel. Much to our disappointment, the movies ends up as a B - grade porn flick.
The cinematography, music, background score aren't worth mentioning so I wouldnt venture into that.
My rating for this movie 0.5/5*
As rediff rightly said "Realism is one thing, but shoddy production value and inconsistent, uninteresting camera work have no justification. Sadly, this isn't news you can use."
GIVE IT A MISS, YOU WONT REGRET IT!*
*P.S: I feel the best part of the movie was the interval(bcoz of the popcorn;) , hence i've put not sure in the drop down box:P
