Some inventors never sit idle, instead they just work on and on and on, they invent everytime, one such inventor is Christopher Nolan. He has given us some extraordinary movies like Memento, The Prestige, The Dark Knight & Inception. and now he's back with one more invention of him'Interstellar'. It is a story of time-space travel.
Earth is no longer safe to live, as it is constantly suffering from dust storm, and all this is killing everything they grow, they're having shortage of food now. An ex-engineer, ex-NASA pilot Cooper(Matthew McConaughey) is a farmer now and lives with his son Tom(Timothee Chalamet) & daughter Murphy(Mackenzie Foy). Her daughter aleays says that there's a ghost in her bedroom which wants to talk to her, but Cooper identify it a gravity anomaly, and which let him to a secret NASA center, where Prof Brand(Michael Caine) alongwith his daughter Amelia(Anne Hathaway) is making a spaceship which can go and search for new planets for human species survival. There were some previous missions sent for the same, and they now have to identify one of the receiving signals out of 12 different planets of the other galaxy and reach upto then to find out, and how can they travel so far in one lifetime, because there's a wormhole created by someone, nobody knows who. A wormhole is a kind of black hole through which you can travel real fast, and time becomes one of the dimension, it means you will actually spend a lot of years in terms of Earth's time but in reality it's just few hours of your life, that is the time-space continuum. But Wait! That's not all, its a THRILLER, a THRILLER in SPACE!
This story is written by Christopher & his brother Jonathan, and is again one hell of a story, as you always know that story is one of the best asset of Nolan's movies, alongwith its presentations. And I have not mention the whole story here, its not that simple, but complex, though not complex as'Inception'. The idea, the plot, the story, and the screenplay are the best parts of Nolan's movies. My personal best movie of him will always be'Inception', though this one also comes closer. For many his batman movies are the best, personally I will rate them normal, because of my personal dislikes of hollywood superheros movies. This movie goes on for about 3 hrs, 1st half is bit slow, but the 2nd half is on a high, when many thrilling event comes, and the movie is well supported by background score(Hans Zimmer), alternating between slow and high-volume music, increasing the intensity of the scene and the situation. The movie is well studded from Physics and many theories of it, like theory of relativity, time-space funda, Murphy's law, Newton's laws etc. And lots of explanation given in it. The climax and the last 1 hr of the movie was ultimate. That's where some other actors like Matt Damon(Dr Mann), Jessica Chastain(grown-up Murphy) comes up and forms the formidable part of the movie. All the actors has given their best shots, even Matt Damon in his short role shows his acting side.
Special effects are of top-notch quality, especially the designs of various settings of planets, and the wormhole, the 4D/3D time-space area they built, the locations are chosen well for depicting various planets, the explosion of one spaceship, all prepared beautifully. And 3hrs of yours give a sigh of satisfaction at the end. What if your child grows older than you, you're still the same age, this experience is given by Nolan here. The movie's scenes are interspersed between two locations - space and earth happenings, and adjusted well with the intensity required for them, so there you got the high points and the low points.
I will ask you all to go and watch this movie on big screen, and definitely if you're a fan of Christopher Nolan, I will rate this movie as a 4.5/5 since for me'Inception' is the best, but this one comes out so well that it should not be missed, you'll get a feel of gravity, and space & definitely TIME!
