One of the greatest movies I have ever watched, nothing else can be said about Quentin Tarantino’s latest movie “Inglouious basrdss”.

It is a black comedy cum historical with the world war II iconography.

Inglourious Basrdss

Director : Quentin Tarantino

Cast: Cristoph Waltz , Brad Pitt, Eli Roth , Melanie Lorent, Daniel Bruhl, Jacky Ido , Dianne Kruger, Sylvester Groth as Goebels and Martin Wuttke as Adolf Hitler

The Plot

Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz) , also known as ‘The Jew Hunter’ traces the last jew family to be killed in the beautiful French Countryside. He finds them inside a farmer’ basement and kills everyone except a girl named Shoshanna. She runs away.

Four years after this, enter the Jewish American soldiers sent by the Allied Forces lead by Aldo Raine ( Brad Pitt) . They are known as the Inglourious Bas*rdss . They include “

The Bear Jew ” Donnowitz ( Eli Roth) a ruthless jew who attacks and kills with his Base Ball Bat.

Shoshanna ( Melanie lorent) is now a cinema owner in Paris and is planning to avenge . She is assisted by her projector operator Marcel ( Jacky Ido) . Shoshanna meets the German war hero Zoller ( Daniel Bruhl) , a movie buff at her theatre and he falls for her. He is also playing himself in the propaganda film “The Nations Pride ” by Goebels. Zoller wants to premiere his movie in Shoshanna’s cinema. The premiere is going to be attended by several top nazi leaders including the Fuhrer(!) and this gives the golden chance for Shoshanna and Marcel to hatch the trap.

The premiere is attended by Colonel Hans Landa, Aldo Rainne , Donnowitz , and the German Actress cum British double agent Bridget Won Hammersmack (Dianne Kruger) who discloses the possiblity of Hitler’s presence.

During the premiere the basrdss come with Hammersmack with their own plan to kill the nazis. But Landa interrogates Hammersmack and kills her. Zoller comes to meet Shoshanne in the projection room and realizes her motives . They shoot each other. Meanwhile Marcel burns the entire Nitrate Film collection of the theatre after closing all the exit doors. The theatre is burnt and the basrdss shoot Hitler and Goebels.

Colonel Hans Landa changes his colours and tries to become the hero of the Nazi defeat, but the Basrdss wont let him go.

The script, treatment and the stellar performance of Cristoph Waltz

Crisotph Waltz’s performance as the nazi secret agent won him the best actor award at The Cannes this year ! .

Indeed , this could be one of the best ever acting performances in the history of world cinema. He surpasses all others in the movie in the acting department.

His portrayal of the wicked, crooked and sharp intelligence officer is so brilliant that made Tarantino to remark that Hans Landa is the best character he had ever created. It is a treat to watch him interrogating the farmer in the beginning of the film about the jews hiding in his cellar. He is so wicked , cold blooded and utmost intelligent.

The movie is told in chapters. One can feel reading a novel. The details are amazing. The brilliant design and complementing cinematography make each visual breathtaking.

The enchanting visual of the beautiful French countryside in the beginning and the face of Shoshanne projected over the fumes of the burning cinema screen in the end are 'never before's.

The characters are so well written . The dialogues are so sharp. Quentin Tarantino again plays his tribute to the art of Cinema by weaving the intricacies of making and projecting cinema and also by mentioning the German cinema of the 20’s and 30’s. He masterfully weaves these into a historical cum black humour . This itself is magic and feast for all movie fanatics like me.

Watch it , don't miss one of the finest movies and one of the greatest acting performances ever happened.
