Indore

Indore was planned and built by Rani Ahiyabai, the brave holkar queen. Situated on the banks of the rivers Saraswati and Khan, this bustling and vibrant city derives its name from the 18th century Indreswar temple. It has some intresting momuments associated with the medieval Holkar dynasty.Indore is also lovingly called 'Mini Mumbai'.

Sightseeing

Lal Bagh : Once the residence of the Maharajas, it has now been converted into a museum and cultural centre......

Kanch Mandir : Inside this Jain temple, thousands of mirrors adorn the walls, floor and ceilings. Exquisitly carved Chinese glass-cut lanterns, murals depicting teachings of Jainism and the comtemporary life are its other attractions....

Rajwada : Also known as the Old Palace, it is located in the old Indore. This 200-year-old palace belonged to the Holkar dynasty. It is the blend of Mughal, French and Maratha architecture.

Khajarana :

Citizens of Indore have great faith in this Ganesh Temple made during the rain of Ahilya Bai. It is believed that all wishes are fulfilled by praying here.

Diversity In Cuisine :

An interesting dish is the bafla (wheat cakes) dunked in rich ghee which are eaten with daal (a pungent lentil broth). The tongue-tingling sharpness of this combo is moderated by the sweet ladoos that follow it.

In summers the meals tend to end with fruit luscious mangoes (dusseharis which you must try and take home), juicy melons and watermelons, custard apples, bananas, papayas, guavas.

To drink, there is lassi (buttermilk), sugarcane juice....
