I depend on IndiaPost for sending speed posts and mostly it is a very reliable channel. But last week, I had a great surprise from them. One month ago my sister had sent a parcel from Kerala to my address in Chennai.
She had already remitted the amount at the time of booking the parcel. The parcel was promised to be delivered in 2 days. But even after 2 days it did not arrive, and the tracking page also there were no updates. So I complained at the GPO, Chennai, with their help right on the next day the parcel arrived. But 2 days back the post man came and asked me to pay Rs. 320. I asked why?
He told that it is for the parcel which was delivered to me last month. I asked him why I should pay for it, since already the amount was given. He affirmatively told me that it was COD delivery. Since he had forgotten to collect the amount, from the post office he has been ordered to collect it. I understood this is just cheating and I told that, all records are available in GPO and I would complain again at the GPO and that I have proof for having paid for it. I took a xerox of the receipt and asked him to show me where is COD printed on it?
He looked a bit starled, but quickly took the receipt copy from me telling that he would inform the post office. After that he never asked for the money and I too let the matter go.
