I am having super savings account with IDBI since last 8 months and I am very satisfied with the way bank responds and does business with customtakeouters. I have experience with likes of ICICI, HDFC, Kotak, SBI, Canara Bank, but IDBI simply stands out as the best in my 18 years of banking.
I recently converted my Zero Balance SB account into Salary account, and the experience is even more satifying. IDBI has some understanding with our company and is also providing Rs.5lac insurance cover to me without charging a single paise.
Indranagar Bangalore Branch Experience: I go in 2 Wheeler, either support staff/security guard sees that customtakeouter gets place for parking, they guide you within a minute to a parking slot even by moving vehicles themselves. One person is always at the entrance he guides the customtakeouters to the right counter and this makes customtakeouter feel cool as he enters the bank.
All support staff are uniformed and very helpful, they make you sit and even ask if you need water (Rajeev_Vermacially for senior citizens and women). They talk to you in langauge you want, not like other banks where if you speak in Kannada they reply back in english. The main highlight of the Indranagar branch is young team willing to xtra mile, they never have an outlook of a govt. employee. Some employees grab their lunch on desk and still handle customtakeouters and even transact. This is not even seen in Pvt, banks in and around my area.
The branch is open on all days ==Sundays included (10AM-4 PM), == this makes a big difference for busy office goers. A visit of 10 mins to the bank either on Sat/Sun is enough to keep banking worries for the rest of the week.
Mobile Banking : ICICI/HDFC doesn't have toll free number , but IDBI has and that makes you free to call up even for any doubt and clarify w/o telephone charges.
Internet Banking : I found it very user friendly, I just saw IDBI internet banking won some award too.
Cheque Book :On couple of occasions it was not delivered in time but that's OK
Special Assistance :In my company there is a representative on the campus, so far I have not used her assistance but will be handy in future.
ATMs :Card to card (VISA) transactions can be done on IDBI machines, but I have not used the facility.
Almost all service employees are 20-35 of age and are very fast in response, they take less time of yours, one can see a landlords, senior citizens, IT guys, maids all entering this bank and having good banking experience.
My revised Salary account has so many features, the advertisement says " Do you charge a friend for services " ...

Check out features of IDBI with any bank (some banks like Kotak make false promises and later charge you royally).
It's really amazing how a govt, owned company can run more efficiently than pvt sector banks. To open a Zero Balance a/c you need a Photograph, ID, Adress proof and an initial payment of Rs.500/- or Rs.1000/-. Just try out this bank Rajeev_Vermacially if the branch is very close to your home.
However on Sundays the branch is full and may be annoying sometimes, but your job gets done on a holiday, which is very good. Investment support is also available, they help you and transact pretty fast. IDBI bank has best interest rates as well. I recently opened 16 month RD account (@9.5%PA), even post office has less interest compared to IDBI.
Update 10Oct2011 : I lost my debit card, Seperate Toll free numbers are available for BSNL/Mobile, I blacklisted my card without even remembering my Cust ID/ Card No/A/C details. Phone banking is really easy and helpful.
The bank has promised me replacement card within 7 working days, and NIL charges for new card !!
