Here everybody seems to be commenting on only personal banking operation and customer care. I too want to be brief as so many have commented already same things. Instead of reading all other comments and rating which is a huge task I have gone for a review myself.


My bitter experience with the national banks prompted me to go for a bank with modern facilities. I still remember those bitter experiences in banks with worst customer care. It used to take 3 hours or more for a DD and 1 hour or more to draw or deposit100 rupees in my savings account. My father wanted me to learn about the banking procedures by forcing me to go to bank whenever it is possible. They never cared. Ofcourse it is before the banks started computerization and privatization.


Now things started changing with economy chanting modern mantra. Banks becoming online, core banking, ATM, mobile banking, online banking, eletronic transfers. Wow, what not. Now my banks offer you cushion seats, cool drinks, beautiful ladies to attend your enquiries. Nice polished talk until you commit to open an account or take a loan.


I have opened an account in ICICIbank within an hour. Actually my vehicle loan was processed within a day !!! I took personal loan for my bike which was processed in 24hrs and I was riding the bike next day. In fact the dealer of the bike is so sure he delivered it before processing.


Now the bank penalises 250 per month if my quarterly average balance is low and the ICICI personal loans penalises 250 if I fail to pay the installment within time. A clever marketing trap. Another un-calculated expense the interest rate charged at 9% flat is equal to 24% in regular banks with all those unsaid processing charges.


But I see long queues in now in the bank which makes me remember those bad old days. Most of the time I drop a check in my ATM and later draw from ATM. The problem arises only when you have something to solve or get clarification from bank.


I got equal respnoses in any modern banks, HDFC, UTB, ICICI, GTB. They are more courteous until you commit to open an account. Later every one is same. I think the customer care entirely dependant on the branch than whole of a Bank. Initial stages they are after customers and later customers are after the bank to get attention.


Previously all financial institutions are not so glamorous and only gone by performance. Now the looks are so good to compensate the performance. Moreover our expectations have gone up due to speed of our daily life.
