Before writing this review I went thru all d other 1s posted here.After reading them I had to pen down my experience with ICFAI here.
I like all others wanted to go for a full time MBA course, but due to lack of time I had to join ICFAI.The WB syllabus is not upto the standard n in my case I wanted to do it from calcutta itself.so the obvious choice ws ICFAI.Initially when I joined.I was sort of woed.they told me its very easy to pass out fm here, abt d classes.bla bla.
Now il gv u all a clear picture of what icfai is all abt!
First n foremost.ICFAI IS NOT FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT WORK HARD! IT IS NOT LIKE THE DISTANCE PROGS OFFERED BY OTHER UNIVERSITIES WHERE U CAN WORK N STUDY TOGETHER.It is tougher than the full time course.
BUT U DONT need to be brilliant to pass out from here.Even if ur an average student bt a hard worker .u can sail thru! It comes under the professional progs of ICFAI.so its not exactly distance types.
To start with .the classes.
I had to pay Rs.9000 extra for the classes i.e only for the 1st stage.
classes are held 4 days a week. gud professors in d 1st 2 grps.bt I wud suggest that u invest some money for private tutions instead.I took classes for the 1st stage. after completeng it I realized that It was a waste! If U R from a commerce background then you dont need to actually take help.that again depends on you.! The books provided are good enough cz they will not set anything out of that.But yes make sure to do all the model papers provided in the CD n also the previous question papers.Books are couriered as n when u pass the groups.
1stage is where max students fumble.that is cz they dont know how to go about it.!
When I joined I was in a batch of 60-65 students.now im giving stage2-group G&H n guess what.we are only 3 of us left!;D
That doesnot mean we are the brilliant lot.those who fail are the ones who are mostly working, some quit, some dont take the course seriously.there are many such other reasons.It's not very tough as it seems.its the way you handle it that matters!(HEYY ITS AN MBA COURSE AFTER ALL N MGT SKILLS IS WHAT U NEED!)
If you make sure that you do what u are expected to do then no1 can stop u from passing.
Yes ICFAI does make money.but tell me guyz who doesn't? But its not only money making.the quality of education imparted is worth it!
They send you magazines regularly.
Every tom, dick n harry can get admission here.But every tom, dick n harry cannot pass out of here.mind it! That is what I like about icfai.You get a chance here.its on you whether you make use of it or not!
Compared to the other universities the fees is high here.but atleast here if u face any Problem a mail is all that you need to do.very well managed! I have heard from friends doin mba from other universities .that management is very poor.Thay dont even know whom to communicate to when needed. If its distance learning then it has to be ICFAI n nothng else!
yes 1 more thing.it might take you 21/2 -3 yrs to complete the course.its a two yr course though!.but Its again upto you.U can give 2 groups together.now here again its better to give two groups in the 1st stage itself cz there is too much to study in the 2nd group.So only in the 3rd stage will u get a chance to give 2 groups again.
Next the placement. at the time of registration you will be asked to pay Rs 3500 for the placement scheme.ICFAI has a tie up with HR Alchemist where it is assured that after successful completeion of he course you will get a job worth Rs 21000/-
Well when its only 4-5 students passing out from each batch.its not that difficult for them:)
Dont wana scare u . its just that u will have to devote a lotttt of ur time .not so difficult. The biggest hurdles are Group C(Management a/c n Quantitative Method) & F(HR/OB n Business law/tax)
N yes! after completion of every stage u will get a certificate.after stage 1-DBM, STAGE2- ADV.DBM, n finally MBA. N guess what the final certificate that u get will mention MBA degree n NOT distance learning! What more can u ask for from a distance learning programme!

Fees- around Rs 1 lakh(including Rs 1000 exam fees paid every 3 mnths)
exams are held in jan, april, july n october.Payment of exam fees is to be made online so get hold of credit cards.

Attending training classes is optional. These classes are conducted four times a year. Students who wish to attend these training classes are required to pay a fee of Rs.12, 000 for Groups A, B & C along with the basic fee. If the student wishes to join the training classes after their enrollment they are required to pay Rs. 15, 000 @ Rs. 2, 500 per subject.
There are altogether 3 stages.Stage1-A, B, C stage2-D E F G, STAGE3-H, I&J(specialization), K(case studies)
The MBA students are entitled to receive "Effective Executive" and "Chartered Financial Analyst" magazines for a period of 24 months, from the date of enrollment. In addition, all students at Group H will also receive "Case Folio" journal for a period of 9 months.
Cygnus Business Consulting & Research offers Internship Program in two modules for the benefit of students of MBA Program.This is an optional program. The fee is Rs.8, 000 for Internship Program at the time of enrollment. If the students wish to join Internship Program after their enrollment, they are required to pay Rs.10, 000.
Last but not the least.
The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India University, Tripura has been established as a statutory university by the Tripura government through Tripura Act 8 of 2004 and was subsequently approved by the University Grants Commission under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act. The ICFAI University is mandated by law to conduct the CFA programme in India and award the CFA Charter and Designation to successful candidates. .it has its own brand image!
The bottom line is .IF U CAN DO FULL TIME COURSE THEN GO AHEAD N IF U SOMEHOW CANT THEN THE BEST IS ICFAI.BUT BEWARE.IT IS NOT FOR WORKING PROFESSIONALS! U WILL HAVE TO DEVOTE YOUR TIME COMPLETELY.ITS WORTH IT!
