ICC SS : FIGHT,FAIR AND FARCE

It meant to be FUN, turned out FUNNY

It meant to be SERIOUS AFFAIR, turned out FARE OF FARCE...

Yes Finally the Farce is over...

Series of sorrows rather than superiority is over.. Yes, sadly much expected Fight turned out as a Farce...

World Eleven Turned out to be ELE''ONE''.

Yes bunch of talented eleven individuals, not as a TEAM...

POST-MORTEM:

~

Toot gayi jo ungli utthi Paanchon mili to ban gaye mutthi...

Famous lines for LAGAAN.

This Very thing lacked it ICC XI. That was BUNCH of the best talent available (Though I can debate with few selection), But they got on the battlefield without clear purpose. Though it was difficult job to get them together also...

Where Australians like TEAM LAGAAN.Representing their nation proudly... With purpose of point to prove... Nation word does matter...

Leander paes never excelled in ATP PRO scene, But in DAVIS CUP representing INDIA, he pulled off some stunning victories, some really unbelievable... OLYMPIC EVENT stands out not because its gathers best of best players but its gathering of all proud nations...

First day parade tells us it all... Many Olympians bring out their best because of spark of representing nation.

This thing did matter in ICC SS.

Paanchon mili to ban gaye mutthi

This thing too mattered. Those mutthis were from all corners of the world, they never played along with each other, they played against each other.

Did SANGAKKARA and LARA run with each other any day before? That was clearly visible; running between the wickets, language barrier, captain leading them wasn’t as active as you would see NATIONAL CAPTAIN.

So it was like on the eve of ELECTION, people coming and going all over the place from one party to other. Nobody knows each other well still all are under one roof! Where other party (AUSTRALIA) had all sense of conviction and purpose... This was visible when ADAM GILCHRIST won battle against FLINTOFF (who put GILCHRIST out of sorts in ASHES).

~

Then I asked myself should these matches be there any time in future? Did these types of the matches take place in the past? Yes. After all picking DREAM TEAM in from any field as everybody’s good way of passing the time... (Me too not behind :-))

And In 60''s, 70''S these matches took place with POLLOCK''S and SOBERS were seen played together in same team! And during those time this concept was worthy because of absence of television broadcasting. So to get to watch who’s who together must have been once-in-the-lifetime experience for those fortunate...

Today we see LARA on one channel and TENDULKAR on other. One live, other in Archives!

STILL I WOULD SAY CONCEPT SHOULD NOT BE BURIED.

We can certainly enjoy batting line up of SACHIN, LARA, and KALLIS following one after other. We will love to see BOND after HARMISON and MURALI after VETTORI again.

But Timing should be set perfect where all players would have played cricket for some time (JAN-FEB would be ideal).

LAST WORD:

still if it doesn’t go well then?

Then As one of my friend from MS , janhavi suggests, it should be CHARITY event because no doubt people will still gather to see THE GREATS of the game and if you can raise money out of it , not only it will serve good noble purpose but ICC also can get GLOBAL with reaching to more and more people...
