Folks - I bought a berry red Magna last April and clocked 24000 odd kms. Would like to share with you my experiences so far.

My criteria was a bigger car than our old workhorse - Alto LX. We drive long trips often Mumbai - Bangalore - Thrissur and back. Alto was another name for reliability (Let's go - Alto :)) and space was really at a premium.

I almost brought Dezire but was stumped by the new looks of i20 and booked it.

Dzire is a wonderful car no doubt, but I personally cant digest the boot from mars and car from venus look - no offence here!

OTR Mumbai came to 560000 odd.

Got delivery in 3 weeks - around April 2009 and have been driving on crowded city roads, internal mud roads, villages and highway since then!

Only at around 2000 rpm does power kick in the 2nd gear. Got used to it after shifting gear at higher rpm.

Initial 1 month, there was a weird fluttering sound coming from the front left side of the tires when going through humps. The service guy couldnt figure it out. But the sound was gone in 1 months time. Not sure if it was any of the new plastic covers rattling. If anybody faced this, let me know.

The car is extremely reliable. Made long trips to Kerala, Bangalore twice, and she could gulp down all the distance with elan. Ride is comfy and 295 ltr boot is good enough for most of the luggage.

In one of my trips to Bangalore, we met with a minoraccident with a truck at 90 degrees. Just brushed the back door handle and rear body when we were at 100 kmph. Thankfully nothing happened and I am sure the story would have different had we been in our Alto! We repaired the body damage at Modi Hyundai and had to pay Rs 900 after an insurance claim of Rs 6000.

Other than this freak incident, there have been no issues so far.

She is sturdy on highway. Post 100, she picks up to 140 in no time. I have pushed her to 160 but driving at that speed is not safe.

Regarding the all importantMileage, on Highways, I get around 17 kpl, best being 19 with AC on most of the time, 4 people and speeds of around 100 - 120.

In Mumbai, I used to get around 11-12 kpl. Now I have relocated to Bangalore City. The city mileage is around 15 kpl - thanks to Bangalore weather, I seldom use the AC.

I never expected it to return such good figures, as my alto used to give 13 in Mumbai City and 20 on Highways.

I am satisfied with my purchase, and it gives all the advantages andfeatures of a sedan (and perhaps more) in hatchback size.
