This is the review on HP Pavilion dv2725en Notebook PC, placed under the family of dv2000 series laptops from HP.
Those who have read my diary posts, must be knowing the fact that I've bought this laptop on the 1st of Feb, 08. I've been using it for the past 2 months, intensively, so that I'll understand the plus and minuses well before writing the review. Two months is certainly a long time, and I can wait no more to write a very positive review on this product.

*What made me buy this model?
*1. This was the only laptop available with 2 ghz processor, 800 FSB bus speed and 2 GB RAM and 160 GB Hard disk in that price range.
It had a 2 year warranty, a special offer because I bought in the Dubai shopping festival.
Better price for the spec when compared to Tosiba, Acer and Dell.
Shrinidhi's review, giving the no 2 spot to HP laptops in his review.(his ms id is enidhi)
HPs global presence and availability of service centers in India, where I'll most likely to use the laptop after in the UAE.
The looks. This laptop with 14.1' screen looks compact and reasonably slim.
The top cover is black in color with beautiful glossy imprint finish("Imprint finish" term courtesy notebookreview.com). The inner layer has a nice combi of black colored key pad and silver gray panel surrounding. This gives a very pleasant look to this laptop.
*What I liked in this PC?
Well, almost everything.
But there few things which needs a special mention here.
The first and foremost is the Integrated finger print reader, which gives the user an additional security feature and comfort of registering the fingerprint to unlock the system. I've become so addicted to this, that I now hate to type my password to unlock the PC at office. I've an admin user account, which will be used by me and a normal user account, which my wife will use. We can register fingerprints separately for these two users and unlock the system accordingly.
Performance of this laptop is very satisfying. In the layman terms, I have not experienced any "Not Responding" messages so far. The booting and shutdown is very fast. It almost instantaniously recognises the CD/DVD when inserted and opens up the Quickplay software to play it.
Bright screen and very very comfortable keyboard.
Availability of ports such as USB, s-video, card readers etc.
Size and the weight. It weighs around 2.50 kg and its 23.70 cm Long and 33.40 cm Wide, which is one of the slimmest and compact model available in that price range.
The speakers output is excellent, good enough for me to listen to my favourite songs and watch movies.
Integrated web cam is a fantastic feature, with 1.3 megapixel, it allows the user to capture high quality videos and photos(you can see couple pictures in my album taken using this cam). The voice quality of the MIC is very good.
Two different types of power cables to support different types of plug points.
Windows Vista OS. Yes, as many of us think Vista is not bad at all. Infact I find it a better OS in terms of the security features it offers. I have had no problems in installing and running softwares required for me on this OS.
Wifi modem and Bluetooth.
*What I disliked?
Only one. The 6 cell, Battery lasts for close to just one hour and 30 minutes on a high performance mode and just over 2 hours and 15 mins in Balanced performance mode and close to 3 hours in a Low performance mode, which I think is not good enough to use it while travelling.
If you are looking for a near perfect home entertainment PC, with good performance, I think dv2725en is a good deal.
Please note that, I have not rated the "Service and Support" parameter, since I have not had a chance to come across them and my rating to Quality & Durability is only towards the build quality of this laptop. Durability, I think cannot be judged within this 2 months.
I hope my laptop will continue to deliver its good performace for few more years, which would make me a very happy man.
