W A R N I N G

This review isn’t really about quitting smoking or Tips to do that. Its infact about smoking MORE to realize a much better objective. Ofcourse, if after reading this review, you plan to quit smoking, its something good. If not, you still achieve the better objective.

As a smoker, you have been probably victims of many a grandpa/ma advisory talks, subjected to advices from that stray dog in the road which always manages to escape the clutches of the Municipal authorities to your pan wala who hounds you more for his Udhari to be settled, to your ‘good’ friends who seemed to have develop fascination for counseling smokers. Don’t worry bro …. U will have a day. Coz you have in you to become a Millionaire! The others don’t.

Becoming a Millionaire is quite an easy job actually, but requires discipline too. The chances of you becoming a Millionaire [infact even a Crorepati] increases if you are a smoker. Yes! Smokers have far better resources to become a Crorepati. The methods im proposing are a mix of totally unconventional to conventional methods. It obviously starts off with the unconventional.

The Disciplined Smoker [DS]

A DS is one who when he spends on this cigarette pack, saves an equivalent amount too. For eg. If he buys a Cigarette pack worth say Rs 30, he puts Rs 30 also in the kitty.

Aumptions: *

- You start smoking from 20 [Those college days are an ideal launch pad for many a wannabe millionaires].

  • You smoke one packet per day [If you don’t, then start smoking, so that you wont have to make your own calculations. Ofcourse if you smoke more, you can extrapolate these numbers].

So, coming back to the DS [and all these days u thot very cheap of smokers?], he puts Rs 30 every day, which zooms to Rs 900 a month. Extending further, at the end of the year, he would have accrued Rs 10, 800.

Now various possibilities do spruce up here. One is you can use this 10k for putting that as the Premium amount for your Insurance Policy or any other Policy. And you never feel the pain of removing a cheque which bears a 5 figure amount & your signature on the cheque reminds you of the sweat & blood you had put in, reminds you of your a, which had been subjected to all kinds of pain. On the contrary, the DS will probably be smoking his fave cig [and ordering one more packet * isi khushi ke mauke par] & signing off the cheque with glee.

The Second possibility looks like a dream. But becomes a reality. Afterall, Lungs Ki Kasam, you would want a bigger reward for being so disciplined. So here is what you do at the end of one year, when you have 10K. You buy Mutual Funds. Just to keep it simple, Im making 2 a**umptions.

- The MF is quoting at Rs 35. [You get cheaper & better ones too]

  • The MF will give an annualized return of 14.5% or close to that, which is very nominal. You will actually get much better than this.

Ok, focus back to the DS. [A ha! I just put another Rs 30 aside]. So he buys MF at Rs 35 & ends up with 308 units [Im rounding off the numbers for simplicity]. At the end of one year, owing to 14.5% returns, the Rs 10, 000 becomes Rs 12, 342. Pooh! Pooh! you might want to say. Kahan crorepati ka sapna dhikaya & here the increment is happening at a rate which would make a handicapped turtle proud!

At this point, remember that day when you were roaming in half *chaddis * & your grandpa told you the story of a poor guy who beat the king in a game of chess. All he wanted as a reward was rice. His condition being: 1 grain in the first square, 2 in the second, 4 in the third, 8 in the fourth & so on. In short, the poor man requested for the rice grains to be doubled with each square. The chess board even in that century had 64 squares & the King probably did what we call ROFL today, owing to the foolishness exhibited by the poor guy in losing an opportunity to make his ‘hands full’. Ofcourse all this, before the King started off on the maths behind the Poor guy’s request. Even before he reached the 32nd square, he was already ROFTTT [TTT is Tears, Trauma & Trepidation]. The very thought of the 64th square sent another T [Tremors] thru his body.

When I heard this story, I was fascinated. Ofcourse, I was smoking. I thot of the 64 squares to be the 64 years of a human life [the average life span] & that set me thinking - can I model something on this? Luckily enuff, there is a solution. It uses the more contemporary or the prevailing method called the The Power of Compounding.

Back to the DS. He ends up with Rs 12, 342 at year 2. He repeats the process. Year 3 ends with Rs 14, 560. Fast Forward to Year 10 with the process repeated year on year. Year 10 boasts of Rs 36, 463. Still not impressive, eh? Ok. Year 20 announces Rs 145, 506 [Congrats! U have become a Lakhpati]. Year 30 rings Rs 563, 555 and year 40 [when you are 60 years old] grins Rs 22 Lacs. Just Imagine you retire at this age, and you already have Rs 22 Lacs with you, all because for 1 year, you kept aside money for yourself & family equivalent to what you smoked. Great going.

The Highly Disciplined Career Oriented Smoker [HDCOS]

From DS you become a HDCOS, if you put aside an equivalent amount [of smoking] for 10 years. So till the age 30 you keep on putting aside the money. By the time you are 60, you end up with a whopping Rs 42 Lacs in your account. By 67, you become a Crorepati boasting of Rs 10, 792, 834.

If you want to be a DS & yet become crorepati by 67, then you got to smoke more buddy. Atleast 2 packets [this is a definite possibility after you get married]. That would mean Rs 21, 600 at the end of the year, Rs 72, 927 at the end of 10 years & Crorepati at 67 again with Rs 10, 931, 823.

And the best aspect of these methods is, one ofcourse you smoke without feeling guilty(J) and two, the money can always be liquidated.

A small RIDER method [But with power of compounding, things really take a turn]

When you buy a cig packet by paying Rs 50 & you get a Rs 20 note as the change keep it aside. This is one helluva method. In a week you will put aide atleast 3 to 4 Rs 20 notes. Now, this is an absolutely stunner of a silent method to accrue money.

Ofcourse, this method is very useful, when you want to buy that mobile, or get that Piano which costs you Rs 25, 000 etc. For *chota mota * things like these, this method is adequate. But when coupled with the Crorepati method, it acts as a catalyst in making you a Crorepati years ahead. And all these bro, just because you SMOKE! U dare say you want to quit this.

Finally .

It’s a great feeling to be a smoker & become a Crorepati by doing all this. Ofcourse, the best method still remains NOT to smoke & be a Crorepati by virtue of having already saved that much. You could have probably used these Crores for luxury than medical treatments! You are a Crorepati from Day One, rather than an agonizing wait of 60 years. Moreover, an added bonus of good health.

You Decide.
