Before I begin this review, MouthShut kindly note that this is a product of the Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd and not of Hero Motors. The Dio has been with me for over 2 years now, I got it on the first day the vehicle was launched in my city. The journey so far has been exciting, though with some hitches.
The strong points:
Its a great machine to ride. Its silent, great pickup, light weight and easy to maneuver. Further it being a gearless vehicle is great for the city in peak conditions.
The braking system is JUDGABLE and the vehicle comes to a halt almost where you want it. Also the weight distribution is optimum and during braking it doesnot skid. This is a great boon during wet conditions where I have seen that the vehicle keeps its way and doesnot sway from its direction during braking (though have not checked this at high speeds! :) )
Fuel efficiency is on par if not better. I can exctact around 45-50 to a litre in daily driving conditions which is including city and highway ride.
Storage space is ample and you can keep everything into it! You can also get a spare boot attached to the front (inside) which is good enough for small water bottles, raincoats or some odd items. The storage space beneath the seat is great. A full size helmet can come inside + toolkit + firstaid kit and some few odd items.
The fiber body is also good and if you dont like the color or change color combination you can get the entire / part body replaced for around 700 INR.
Low maintainance. Except for the regular servicing and one battery change in 2 years there has been no other maintainance problem.
Neutrals:
The TUFF UP Tubes which do not lose air fast. Who said so? And further, you can get a puncture made easily because the sealant is alway flowing out so the puncture doesnot stay and you need to replace the entire tube. So I have long back switched to the old tube without the sealant.
Website: They have a great website and many cool stuffs. Its known as the HONDA CLUB. But here too the feedback form may be loosing out somewhere before reaching the desks I believe.
The overall ride quality is good but on bumpy roads you are in for some good excercise of all your body parts. I feel the shocks need to be ADJUSTED FOR INDIAN RIDE CONDITIONS ;) .
The weak links:
Back seat ride is awful. The back seaters have to stretch their leg out for the footrest which has been integrated into the body. Once the company has a customer feedback wherein I had pointed this out and they have now come out with an optional foot rest and body protector.
Seating position is poor. You cant sit on it for long rides. I feel its to do with the design of seats to handle position. Even your hands start aching after you have had a long ride so does your back. I think this needs to be improved a great deal. Or may be its due to my height.
Battery position. You have to open up the entire front to replace your battery! They could have placed it at some better place.
Service and support: Can be improve with. Though the overall experience has been good, they are not the nicest of the lot. In case of after sales service and support I must say that TVS guys are far better.
But for a round up of my entire enDIOring experience, let me say that its a great one to be on. You will love owning one!
