A reputed Indian news media company’s website and must see list in everyday schedule of many NRIs. A not so neatly formatted template with many advertisement banner on the front-page. Though some of their ad banners in the index page takes long time to load due to Java applet initiation, I still found the site and its content a worth looking at.
The Hindu website is the one I mostly access, probably more than any other person in the country. The quality of news content is good in all aspect. However I recommend The Hindu team to look at re-designing the website, which is age-old one now. Other than the first page, I normally had no issue loading the internal pages. In fact it is one of the fastest sites I ever viewed from India. The archival navigation in the site seems to be neatly organized and it’s a gift to the site.
Otherwise the issues are the classifieds section which only shows a limited portion of the classified advertisement of the published edition. Actually if they could make the classified edition to sync with property page of Saturday and other classifieds of Sunday may make life easier in search. However if the feel that it may affect their circulation, they may have a time interval of 2 days for the classified to come online after publication.
There have been lots of changes I have noticed in the past with hinduonnet.com website, some times its way ahead of all other sites in the same line. However the presentation needs attention. Hinduonnet.com is the first Indian news paper site to bring up the gallery project, later it has been also taken by Time of India but in a very ugly manner(Read the review in mouthshut.com by somebody else). But the thehinduonnet.com’s subsidiary website https://hinduimages.com is really a gift for those who are in need of images of history.
Again except the presentation, https://hinduonnet.com is on the helm at all levels including quality of the content, faster downloads and uninterrupted service.
