Anyone who thinks that musicals are dead must have a look atHSM3.With a plot that isn't exactly riddled with dramatic tension, themovie is a refreshing experience. Unlike most three sequels, this onegoes far beyond its two predecessors. It hasglossier production values, catchier songs and even a little more story.The plot-
Zac Efron(Hairspray) plays Troy Bolton, a star player on EastHigh School's basketball team who gets recruited to star in a musical, the theme of which is Senior Year. Troy's college plans are securethanks to a basketball scholarship at a local university, but hisgirlfriend Gabriella(Vanessa Hudgens) is headed for Stanford, leavingtheir relationship in limbo. In the meantime, Sharpay Evans(AshleyTisdale) conspires to take over Gabriella's role in the production soshe can win a scholarship to Julliard, and enlists her twin brotherRyan(Lucas Grabeel) to court writer-composer Kelsi(Oleysa Rulin) andwin her support. As his friends weigh in with their opinions and hisparents conspire to help him make a decision, Troy must ultimatelydecide what is most important to him – his basketball career, hisburgeoning passion for musical theater, or his love for his girlfriendGabriella – as Senior Year, and his senior year, comes to a triumphant close.
This superbly danced film makes full use of his talents and it's areminder that some ideas - such as Fred Astaire's great routine toDancing on the Ceiling - need only a little updating to enthral youngaudiences.
This one deserves nothing less then 4 stars and is a must watch for you if you just came out of your school
