This is my first review on mouthshut I read lot of reviews daily and most of them are really useful for buyers.
after reading few reviews of yamaha, honda, suzuki and last HH splendor I decided to write this review
i own a HH splendor and I bought this exactly 10 years back...in the year 2000 when the new orange stickering released. YES I am a happy customer and most satisfied customer of splendor with its good mileage, executive look, handling, ride...ofcourse...my bike still looks like a new one and just start for one kick either in the evening or morning , summer or winter...this is some thing great about this bike
since it has old on the age...i changed the bore, piston set from HH 2 years back and bike and also silencer...and I think I finished almost 150000 km by now...and still bike with the same sound and handling....except one thing is mileage....dropped....as I dont complain on this ..becoz within 10 years all the parts of the engine and others get warned out...and this is natuaral....but its a strong bike ...when you compare the present splendor...even PRO....its very very poor in quality...and everything....
since its 10 years...i thought of changing the bike just becoz of mileage...even after lot of adjustments...i know that it has lot of old parts with it...so u cant help....and reveiwing lot of bikes...seen personally ...driven them....read lot reviews...and come to following conclusions
no of the present bikes are so great....may be technology wise yes...lot of new features like elec start, digital indication...and others....but manufacturing quality has come down...its very poor....and within a year...bikes are started giving lot of noises and looking like very old due to the usage of fibre parts....but ofcourse...who cares today...lot of people just use it for 1 year and dump it and take a new model...10 years back...the money value was so precious...and there r not somany models coming everyday...
but if I look at todays hero honda products....they r really cheating customers with very low quality manufacuring, carrying same old models adding some non sence face lifts...very high prices...within their segments...and cashing on resale value(this is not correct for todays HH bikes...it is the same with any other bike in the segment now...), very pathetic sticker designs....just compare the old splendor designs with the current models...and passion too....very shobby. still people are buying just becoz they think the bikes are reliable...and good for resale value...but both r not correct for these days....they not so great with mileage and maintenance now...and not much on resale...too...for new bikes(2007 to 2010)...u have good re sale value for old models(2000 to 2006)...due to their built quality...yes...in exchange they offered Rs.20000/- for my bike even after 10 years...
so my suggestion to all the readers...dont get fooled by HH any more...and more importantly honda is totally broken up with them now...so they r going to loose their honda tag now...and since they have major sales...they have very neglect focus on sales, service or anything....and according to me todays products of HH r not so great too..
being a HH bike owner I still love to ride my splendor...and I am not a agent of any other company
do detail review of all the manufacturers and go with the one best suits...you..please do not just go with the brand or with sake that most of the people r buying one perticular model....or it is becoz more waiting period is there so..its a good bike...now companies are starting playing with this trick...specially honda guys for shine and activa...its a marketing trick to attract more people...there is nothing that great in those models...
after using for 10 years...i find two problems in my HH splendor
long rides...u get back pain as seating is not that comfy...and shocks too...
wheel size is less...and most of the times it skids...or in a fast riding it is difficult to sudden halting..
hope my review helps to at least few..people...but I am sorry I didn't suggested any bike models...as my self I am not clear that which is good or bad in todays bikes...i have research more....
good luck...
