Hera Pheri is a well directed thrill ride with flashes of comedy thrown in.

Hera Pheri's done what David Dhawan failed to do in some of his more recent films. He's made us laugh with his heartwarming late of three tapori musketeers who try to and constantly fantasize of making millions, despite being cursed with the biggest handicap: a heart of gold.

Not just laughs alone, but double up with glee at the unbridled fun and games that explode on screen as Paresh Rawal tries to redefine the art of filmy comedy and Om Puri keeps excellent pace with this breathless jamboree.

In Hera Pheri, Sunil's character is poor and leaves his ghown in search for a job in a bank where his father used to work. However he comes into competition with Tabu who also happens to be applying for the same position at the same time and who actually ends up getting the job. Sunil who is only trying to get a decent job and earn an honest living has various arguments with Tabu over who has the 'right' to the job. His relationship with Tabu in the film never really gets settled or determined. Meanwhile Sunil finds a place to stay with a owner of a small broken down place played by Paresh Rawal who's other tenant is Akshay Kumar. Sunil needs to find a job soon so he can to save up enough money to pay for his sister's wedding back home. Akshay doesn't want to work even though he needs the money. Sunil and Akshay have a hard time getting along and fight over every little thing. This is where the comedy comes in as they have a 'go' at each other and fight over little things like who is allowed to use the washroom facilities first. In the midst of all this useless arguing and trying to earn some desperate money, they fall into trouble when the owner's (Paresh Rawal) phone number which is listed under the wrong name is dialled by a gangster, who is no other than the best kind, Gulshan Glover. He tells them on the phone thinking its someone else that he has kidnapped their 'niece' and wants 1 million rupees by tomorrow for her return. All three of them first don't understand what's going on but soon figure it out and then come up with the idea to play along and get wealthy in the process. So they find out who the call was for and pass on the message of their niece being kidnapped pretending that 'they' are the bad guys and ask for double the amount. So that's their plan and they get into a fix trying to make that happen.

Sunil's character is honest and tries to do the right thing and he portrays that as well as one can. Akshay is outstanding in his comedic portrayal and his dialogue and chemistry with Sunil and Paresh Rawal are well worth the watch. Akshay as a comedian is a welcomed changed after his barbaric and mindless films of the recent past. Tabu, who is there to provide some insight into her character as well as Sunil's, seems to have some significance in the beginning but then trails off near the end of the film.

The songs and music in the film are pretty good, there's one dance number that stands out and is excellent in choreography and dance. That is the last song of the film, which mixes a little bit of Indian with African, Western, and Arabian music. Its exciting to watch and listen to and is the biggest highlight of the film.movie keeps you laughing and the dialogue and performances of the characters were entertaining enough to make an enjoyable passing of time.

But Hera Pheri isn't just a tango by two great comic actors. Instead, it is a glorious ensemble where everyone - Akshay and Sunil too, display rare histrionics as goofy, fun-loving characters with excellent comic timing. Not forgetting the talented Tabu too, who again, is the cutest chameleon the industry could boast of today.

And the fact that all these guys play fringe folks - down and out people who dream big - make the fireworks crackle with verve and splendour. Great fun fare from Priyadarshan who has already proved his forte with Virasat.

An unexpected hit, that is worth watching just for Paresh Rawal's immense portrayal of Goofy Babu Bhai!!!

This movie was a very good hit....and coming up with sequel ' Phir Hera Pheri '
