I had Citibank Shoppersstop First Citizen card since a long time and enjoyed redeeming credit card points that were transferred by Citibank to my SS a/c. monthly.
Then unfortunately, Citibank quit credit card business and even more unfortunately, HDFC Bank entered the picture by coming up with HDFC SS FC card.
I am fond of SS products and also the fantastic system of getting things free from credit card points. So, I applied for HDFC card in Feb this year.
Here is my experience with HDFC SS FC card that I had since I got it.
1) I applied for the card online, on HDFC website. But then some people from call center(probably outsourced) started calling me.
They didn't seem well versed with bank's policies. Didn't get the card easily, despite my excellent Credit Score.
2) I had entered my correct details online on their site, still they managed to make spelling mistake in my email id. To correct their mistake, I had to visit their branch and fill the form. Even after rectification, I started getting alerts on my email but statements kept bouncing back.
3) To my surprise, I am NOT GETTING REWARD POINTS ON AMAZON SHOPPING.
4) Whatever points I am getting, they are not getting transferred to my Shoppersstop A/c. Even though HDFC says they are transferring. So, clearly, someone else is enjoying my points and the incompetent HDFC staff can't even trace where they are sending my points.
Since March I have made numerous complaints via phone, Twitter, emails to customer care and even to their priority redressal department from where some Anupriya P used to request me to treat this as an exception.
Earlier they responded saying they are looking into the matter and needed n no. of working days. They would give a date by which they would contact me.
It has been 3 months, never received a single call or email with any solution. I keep contacting them for update and they keep giving me new complaint no.s or new dates.
Now, even phone calls are frequently dropping or no one speaking and no replies to emails and tweets.
If they can't implement a system and their own policies, who asked them to jump in to the picture n replace Citibank?
I m beginning to think that Foreign banks are much better than these so called India's largest bank. Citibank system was flawless.
Found a funny name for HDFC online "Har Dum Fakir Chand"
So to conclude, do not opt for their credit card if you care about your transactions and reward points. If anything goes wrong, they will not solve your matter.
