Sometimes you know before entering a theatre, what to expect from a movie . It was exactly the case when I went to watch HAWA by Mr. Guddu Dhanoa . I ve had the chance to see couple of previous works of the director and I know what he can be up to. He likes to be inspired from whats going on. Previously he jumped to the Bhagat Singh bandwagon completed the immensely forgettable Shaheed in a jiffy , this time on a BHOOT one , completed HAWA in 40 DAYS(!!!!). Really commendable effort Mr. Dhanoa considering Bollywood's track record, but I think you will once again miss the bus as was the case previously.
Somebody asked me, then why the hell did I go to watch this movie. Why?? Because it had TABU. Isnt that a good enough reason? Tabu is undoubtedly the film's saving grace. I heard Mr Dhanoa calling Tabu The Sunny Deol of HAWA. I cant agree more with Mr. D .Tabu is top class in the movie. I believe her natural acting is what s really required in such a Horror flick. You shud be as good as you get. Her role had some traces of Ajay Devgan in Bhoot. A simple soul put in some supernatural conditions!!! She just enacts herself and thats the only saving grace of the movie. The rest of the cast was all B-Grade.
So what was there in the story?? The same old stuff . A family that is, Tabu with his brother and two little kids ,enter a haunted house along with a BHOOT. The only change here is that the BHOOT starts raping Tabu's character ( I dont know why did Tabu agree for such vulgar and suggestive postures!!!). Really a pervert Bhoot. Really a change from the old Bhoots. Tabu goes to a doctor , the doctor declares its Multiple Personality Disorder( SICC!!! Mr. Dhanoa got this from ....) only to understand later her travails. Then there comes an exorcist(Once Again!!!) and then some DHISOOM DHISOOM with the BHOOT and an end to Tabu's and our travails.Thank God!!!
So were there any terrifying moments?? Yes , I wont say no. Because there were a few scenes in the first half that made you move uncomfortably in your seat but overall it was no better than a Ramsay flick.
My strict advice -- Watch this only if you are a big fan of Tabu.
