Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban?is finally here!! Damn them British who got to see it before us!! (just kidding)
Anyways, back to the review?
This is the third movie based on the third book by JK Rowling (she?s even richer than the queen!). This one differs from the previous two films?the most obvious difference being the change in directors. The first two were directed by Christopher Columbus and this one is directed by Alfonso Cuaron (of Y Tu Mama Tambien fame) and also, this one employs the director?s use of creative brilliance.
What I mean is that this movie isn?t just a visual description of the third book like the previous two movies?no, this one takes it to the next level with the director adding in additional scenes in order to suit his purpose.
This movie stars Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter (or Hari Puttar for those who have seen Kal Ho Na Ho!), Emma Watson as Hermione Granger and Rupert Grint as Ronald Weasley (yeh!) as the three main protagonists?
The ?others?:
Gary Oldman as Sirius Black (yes he IS old and not as good looking as a lot of us had hoped?you know I think that the dude who played Aragorn should have been Sirius),
David Thewlis as Prof. Lupin, Michael Gambon as Prof. Dumbledore (God Bless Richard Harris) and others?
For all of Snape and Minerva fans?you won?t be seeing much of them in this movie?I think Minerva (I forgot how to spell her last name and cannot be bothered to get up and find the book) only has like one full scene?and Snape just makes ?guest? appearances here and there.
Daniel has certainly evolved as an actor?I mean he has to! He is second only to Prince Harry as the richest teenager in Britain! But I think that he still needs to work on his emotive expressions?oh and he also looks decent in this movie?I?m not much of a fan of his, but yeh, he does look better. Another cool ?addition? was the way the students dressed in this movie?you know the whole, shirt out and tie not proper?
Emma as Hermione. She was okay. I think that she?s the most mechanica out of the trio. She though has improved her image?she wears not-so-nerdy clothes and can punch like hell (Girl Power!).
Rupert Grint as Ron is the best!! He has this flair for comedy I?m telling you right her and right now. If you don?t like hp, just watch it because of him. He is sooooo hilarious! And he also looks cool?with his version of the tie?and he sports long hair!!
Michael Gambon is okay. His voice is clearer but?that?s about it.
Gary Oldman disappoints big time! He was meant to be portraying mine and a few thousand people?s favourite character. How did he do? Not good. No way.
David as Lupin was alright. He acted his part well?but well?there just wasn?t charisma maybe??
Others?well; there wasn?t much a part for anyone anyways?
Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy was really good in my opinion, a few people have protested against the fact that he was shown to be a bit on the ?wimpy? side but you see Draco IS all talk and no action?
Now to actual parts of the movie:
? There is an addition of a scene when the kids first come to Hogwarts?it?s well suited and appreciated
? The werewolf was just?plain?.er?.actually, that is the word?it was plain?dull?drab?it didn?t look like a werewolf at all?I mean alright he was the ?human? version?but surely, a few more similarities to an actual werewolf couldn?t have hurt?
? The knight bus was good?especially the dolls head dangling at the front of the bus?
? The setting of the castle has changed?they now have a clock etc
? There is an African boy who has a lot of parts in this movie?would anyone know which character he is meant to be representing?
? Neville is still lost but he?s skinnier and just looks a little bit ?out of it?. I think he was better in the first two movies
? Fred and George?they too have long hair?but only one scene?damn! But as usual?they still make you laugh
? Prof. Flitwick has changed?he is no longer old?but he is young!! Now that didn?t digest at all
? Another thing was that it was never explained in the movie on how Lupin and Sirius knew all about the Map?
? Ron didn?t say a lot of his Divination jokes!!...e.g. ?one thing?s for sure, there?s gonna be a lot of fog tonight?-something like that?damn!
? And there are several changes?so, don?t read the book right before you go watch it?you maybe disappointed
But the way in which each season was shown was really creative?.they showed it through the Whomping Willow?e.g. autumn: all the leaves fall down at once?
The cinematography is breathtaking.
No Quidditch...just Harry falling off his broom.
The fat lady is hilarious! The Headless Hunt Ghosts are also present in this movie.
Oh and, there?s this whole ?romance? going on between Ron and Herm. At one point, she even calls him by his full name?which kind of came as a surprise to everyone present and then there?s this part where she grabs his hand shock&horror etc nothing big.
The dementors are actually quite good?they reminded me of those Ring Raid(?) creatures in LOTR.
Overall, a pretty good movie when compared to the previous two?and as much as I thought LOTR was a bit boring?it?s better than hp?maybe because the director was a mad fan of LOTR and had more experience?but yes, do watch it because it?s just one of those movies which you just have to see?but let me tell you one thing?the book is better.
RUPERT GRINT ROX!
something wicked this way comes
