Story:

I can call myself an avid book buff. Cant track how many books I ve read till now. Thats why?? But this first book in famous Harry Potter series I completed just couple of days back.

Questions ll be asked ?? How come you have not read a book which has become religion for kids in some countries and then call yourself a book buff !!! HA HA HA !!!

Actually I didnt believe till recently that this book is made up for ppl. like me. Not that I dont like kids stuff. I luv them, I luved Panchatranta which I read recently, I luv Asterix. I luved Tintin and I still cherish those memories of Chacha Choudhary, Nagaraj & Captain Dhruv. But somehow I couldnt see myself reading this one. May be I ve suddenly grown up or I dont know what!!!

But sometimes the LIBRAN inside me does become unpredictable and I got this book I finished it. NO REASONS!!!

And did I like it?? I luved it and really I curse myself now what the hell was I doing previously to miss out on these.

Awesome!! I ll call it. This book is really worth the hype surrounding it. NO DOUBT, Its childrens book but everybody can and ll definitely enjoy it. Its meant for enjoying. Period.

The book simply put tells a story about the land of wizard and witches of which we MUGGLES as they call us are unaware of or if we know we are simply too disrespectful. Harry Potter is one of them and is up against ''You-Know-who'' another wizard who has gone wrong. I ve told you the premise ,rest of the story you can find in the story.

So what was so great about it??

-->Simplicity in storytelling. A simple story told in a very simple way and still it enchants you.

-->Crisp in language, nowhere the author is going to prove her superiority of subject over you.( What most Indian Authors try to do) Obviously since it is for kids.

-->The reader can visualise the characters easily. I always believe this is one of the most important aspects of story telling. Once the reader starts relating to the fictitious characters in your books you have got a winner. All the characters are make believe. Be it the hero, Harry or his friends at Hogwarts or the principal of Hogwarts DumbleDore.

So wat was that I didnt like??

May be once again its simplicity. Simply no up and downs in the story, no suspense no gore as in any Shidney Sheldon . But do I care??

So definitely Worth a read.

P.S. --- I does have some indian connections though. I believe Philosphers Stone is nothing but the Anglicized version of ''PARAS PATHAR''.

CAUTION --- Read it before you watch the Harry Potter movies. I know it ll be bit late for a few.
