I came to know about Hotel Haridwar through my parents who read the Times Food Guide for Hyderabad and Secunderabad from cover to cover while I was away at work. Both Madras and Bangalore tend to pamper vegetarians, while Hyderabad is a city where you really have to hunt for what you take for granted in the other two cities - a sign that reads ''Pure Vegetarian Restaurant''.
Hotel Haridwar is located at Koti, very close to the main bus stop. You cannot miss the hotel if you are in the area. The restaurant itself is not visible from the outside and this is a big minus. What you do see is the ''darshini'' like area which is a self service, stand-eat-go place. The restaurant is attached to this. It is a small and neat restaurant. I didn't explore to see if there is any additional seating space, but I saw 8-10 tables.
I am not sure if you need to make reservations here. The service is reasonably fast and courteous, the place has the look and feel of an Udipi restaurant. But what you really end up liking about the place is the food. The Food Guide said that the items served at Haridwar are tasty. I think that's an understatement. We ordered some North Indian and some South Indian stuff. The food here is really finger-licking good.
Its a pity that this restaurant is so far away from where I live and work. But visits to Koti are not really that infrequent and so I hope to visit Haridwar more often.
