Harah's is a multi-cuisine restaurant located within the Lumbini Amrutha Chambers at Nagarjuna Square, Banjara Hills. This restaurant is on the fourth floor of the same building that houses Kebabs & Beer, Subway and Cinema Paradiso. The entrance to this restaurant is not very prominent from the main road and the first time I visited the place I had to ask for directions to the restaurant after I had reached the building.
I was catching up with an old friend and we were deciding where to go when we crossed Chutneys. I suggested we try out Harah's as I'd read a lot of good reviews about the place and we stopped the auto right there and went up to the restaurant.
The staff seemed extremely polite and friendly and we were seated immediately. It was a Friday evening and we didn't have reservations. But we were at the restaurant by 7.30 p.m. Maybe that was why the place was empty. There is a restaurant and a lounge area. The path leading to the lounge area has a granite floor with multi coloured lights and it is very attractive. There is a children's play area, a small book collection and some games. So, you could spend hours at this place if you wanted to.
We were seated at a corner table that was surrounded by huge windows on two sides. Being on the 4th floor, this place has an amazing view. The restaurant itself has an Egyptian theme, but I wasn't really noticing much inside the restaurant. I was only looking outside. It is a wonderful sight to watch the traffic go by, the lights of the Birla Mandir and not hear the noise!
The menu is extensive. It is a little confusing because I was hoping to see a standard starter-soup-main course-dessert menu. But Harah's has so much to offer that they have different pages bound in something that resembles a ring folder. They also have an extensive drinks menu, but I haven't really tried too many of them. I have probably had one so far and it definitely wasn't disappointing.
The staff help you with the menu and suggest things. We ordered Chinese food that day. I kept telling the waiter that I wanted bland food and that's what I got. The service is reasonably prompt and courteous. But sometimes I do feel that it might be easier if I spoke the local language.
I?ve visited Harah?s on two more occasions. One of these was during lunch. And we opted for the lunch buffet. The buffet has a choice of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. The number of items on the menu is limited when compared to some of the other buffet options in the city. But I honestly don?t see that as a limiting factor. Harah?s scores very high on taste. The soup that we were served wasn?t very hot, but apart from that the food was wonderful. Their range of starters, both, in the buffet and the a la carte, is yummy.
They have 2 soups, 2 starters, 2 non vegetarian dishes in the buffet, a variety of salads, some Chinese dishes, some North Indian dishes and the standard rice, sambar and curd. Even the desserts table had some 3 types of desserts excluding ice creams and a counter serving Appams with coconut milk. All this for Rs. 150.
As far as the a la carte menu goes, I wouldn?t say that Harah?s is inexpensive. I wouldn?t classify it as an expensive place either. It is a nice place to visit when you want to have a relaxed evening, eat good food, and unwind?without totally emptying your wallet!
