“Don’t worry be happy….oooooo…Don’t worry Be Happy”
The kind of machines we have become in this fast paced world, many people tend to drastic steps in life because of too much pressure either from the home front or office front. Especially the younger generation due to the competitive world were even 1 marks makes a difference from getting in a good Business Schools. In such situation, I have seen brilliant students going wayward and going in the wrong mould of life.
Problems are the main, source of depression and stress. It’s just how well you manage your problems. Their was a case of a person, when I was a member of World Wide for Nature(WWF) and we used to conduct stress programs by having camping, and trekking trips. This person, had just 3mths back passed out of IIM Ahemdabad and she was working for PWC(Price Waterhouse Coopers) with a hefty salary and we were surprised to see her in the camping trip. When she told every one that she is a IIM student and working for PWC, every one bounced back and said that she must be earning a bombshell and she was indeed earning at around 20 Lacs p.a. But the way she told things, I felt she was not happy, and after enquiring, I asked her, she was sceptical in the first instance talking to a stranger, but then she revealed, that when you are earning such a bomb shell salary, you are always on the nook and this created absolutely immense pressure and stress. Within 2mths of joining she was suffering from extensive stress, dehydration, she was in bed for a week. Now the problem with her was she didn’t manage her time properly. Hence she needed a break and her doc’s advised her nature trip.
This shows that, if you are earning then you will be happy. Its all about time management, we really need to know how to manage our daily schedule.
Before going ahead, let us know what stress is all about.
STRESS
Webster's defines stress as a physical, chemical, or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension and that may be a factor in disease causation.
Is stress all really bad…
This is not necessary that a stress is really bad. A mild degree of stress and tension can sometimes be beneficial. Now, don’t take me wrong, why I am saying a little bit of stress is good because when you are carrying out a project it often compels us to do a good job and when you are under pressure and stress you tend to excel. It is only when stress is overwhelming, or poorly managed, that its negative effects appear.
There are many instances when you encounter stress…
Change is a fact of life…
Change is a part and parcel of life, you need to take the change in a proper manner, it can be anything, change in your job, changes from were you stay. Dealing with changes involves looking at the big picture and understanding why the change has occurred. Knowing the reasons and accepting them allows all of us the chance to move on and perhaps reach new levels. There may exist the chance to learn new skills or perform a new function within your position. When change occurs, there is usually some amount of stress involved and learning to manage this stress is very important. When we are faced with changes and have learned to deal with the stress that may be involved we have become stronger people and better workers. Determine if the change can result in positive results for yourself. For example; a change in personnel may mean better working relations or possibly the potential of promotion. There may be negative aspects but try to focus on what is positive and good for you. Company policies or job description changes affect telecommuters the most. These can directly impact on our jobs and with these changes it is most important to talk with others and discuss the changes.
MAKE EVERY DAY OF YOUR LIFE HAPPY…
- Control your anger …
Anger is sometimes the main cause of stress, the next time you get angry try to control your self. If you are getting angry on some trivial or unimportant matter then let it go and then fold your arms and close your eyes and start counting in the reverse oder.100.99…see by the time you reach 50, your anger subsidises and you feel lighter. Don’t waste your thoughts and energy where it isn’t deserved.
- Mediate your life to calmness…
Before reacting to any stressful occurrence, take a deep breath and release them slowly, try meditation techniques, it will really give you calmness and sooths your mind. As Jilmil(MS Member) had said try reiki, it’s does lot of good to your normal body and mind.
- Don’t cheat time
Remember this as the “Path of Success and Glory”, don’t cheat time, if you start cheating time, you will make many mistakes this may lead to frustration and then finally lead to depression. Hence organize your life and do right things at right time. Get a organizer and chart out things you do and see how life comes in pace with you…
- Be with nature…
Take a trip outdoor to some nice bird sanctuary like Karnla, and get tuned with nature and feel the fresh air. Go out with your parents, grandparents, kids which would really make you away from the daily stressful machine life.
- Laugh a lot…
The best way to relieve your stress is laugh it out by watching a cartoon show or a nice comedy serial like whose line is it anyway, 3rd rock from the sun.
- Don’t…stress your day by thinking about tomorrow…
Plan something rewarding for the end of your stressful day, even if only a relaxing bath or half an hour with a good book. Put aside work, housekeeping or family concerns for a brief period before bedtime and allow yourself to fully relax. Don't spend this time planning tomorrow's schedule or doing chores you didn't get around to during the day. Remember that you need time to recharge and energize yourself - you'll be much better prepared to face another stressful day.
After all this stressful suggestion remember this song by Bobby McFerrin
always and if possible get the video of this song, which will make you laugh your hearts out…
Here's a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note-for-note
Don't worry, be happy
In every life we have some trouble
But when you worry, you make it double
Don't worry, be happy Don't worry, be happy now
Ooo-oo-hoo-hoo-oo hoo-hoo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Don't worry
Woo-oo-woo-oo-woo-oo-ooo Be happy
Woo-oo-oo-oo-ooo Don't worry, be happy
Ain't got no place to lay your head
Somebody came and took your bed
Don't worry, be happy
The landlord say your rent is late
He may have to litigate
Don't worry, (ha-ha ha-ha ha-ha) be happy(look at me, I'm happy)
Oo-oo-oo-oo-ooo (Here, I'll give you my phone number. When you're
worried, call me. I'll make you happy.)
Ain't got no cash, ain't got no style
Ain't got no gal to make you smile
But don't worry, be happy
'Cause when you're worried, your face will frown
And that will bring everybody down
So don't worry, be happy Don't worry, be happy now
Now there, is this song I wrote
I hope you learned it note-for-note, like good little children
Don't worry, be happy
A-listen to a-what I say
In your life, expect some trouble
When you worry you make it double
Don't worry, be happy, be happy now **
