Sunday is a Funday, But not all Sundays. Last Sunday I was Busy, the whole funday. As I reached Home at 8 PM, My Guilt Pangs Started for having not spend time with Better half who was now Bitter Half. As the television was dishing out IPL, JTJN, & the News Channels about Elections, I planned a Night ride for me & my wife.
As we Planned to go to Medchal Road, We took theRoad No. 1 of Banjara Hills. As We Hit the bottle neck at City Center, I was cruising at a very slow speed towards the next cross road. And What do we See a bright lit building with Sign boards glowing like day. Even though we drove sometimes around & knew that the touted to be the largest shopping space in twin cities of GVK Group’s GVK One was coming up, I never realized the razzmatazz it would throw. There was originally a house of Sakina Begum Rahmatulla, renamed asGVK House, well know for its Kohinoorfor its Design. We always used to wonder why It was taking so long to construct the Mall?Construction started in 2003.
We took & U turn & entered just to have a Window Shopping experience & quench our curiosity. The Entrance was a Problem with traffic restriction, esp for those coming from Masab tank Road, Due to road Blocks. I was little apprehensive of the Parking, which all most all malls have. But as I moved into the Parking Zone, After the Usual Security Check, I moved down slowly to P1, P2, P3, P4, P5 What the Heck, they are the Parking Levels.WOW I Said. And They were all full typical Hyderabadis, cashing on the New Mall. Not only was the mall largest, it was having afive-level parking with the capacity to accommodate nearly 800 cars & 800 two-wheelers at a time.
Hyderabad are malls & more malls. Even then, most moan that twin cities don't offer a complete shopping experience. Now I think they will shop. The exterior was a head-turner to make me U turn & the interior is spacious, grandiose, spacious, with me heaving a sigh of relief after the visits to *cramped *malls. Everything about the mall is massive, from the resting area to the corridors to the elevators. But the Waiting time for the elevators was awfully time consuming. Cell Phones were not active in these levels. Dang!!!
After reaching the ground level I could catch up with my wife in the Sunday crowd. GVK One I think is all set to become the next destination for shopaholics, movie buffs & entertainment seekers as its is located in the heart of upmarket locales Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Srinagar Colony, Masab Tank & Somajiguda areas.
GVK One is feature ridden with specials like the largest free standing aquariumon the Ground Floor. This Drew the attention of many Shoppers, all of them surrounding it to get an exclusive Snap on the Mobiles. The Next place that attracted most was the KFCoutlets.
We ignored the crowds & Went into Shoppers Stop, wondering why yet another branch when there is one at Begumpet.Even though It looked small from Outside, we soon realised that its spread on three level with all premium brands.
It also houses INOXmultiplex with Six Screens on the third floor, along with a themed entertainment centre ‘Funzone’. I saw for the first time, international brands likeLacoste, Esprit, Charles & Keith, Da Milano, Giordano, Triumph, Maybelline, Calvin Kline, Austin & Reed, Mango, FCUK, Benetton, Levis, Addidas, Nike, Neeru’s, Mebaz & so on, in one place. GVK One also has a Hard Rock Café, to cater to the growing demands of rock. When full operational, it will provide a good shopping experience. Most of these stores were not yet open.Even though there are escalators on every level, most were not functioning. May be I will Visit again with Kids.
GVK One is a one stop shop with a class beyond compare as of now in Hyderabad.
Psst. And They Do Charge for the Parking & Okie With Me. And Shopper Shop is offering Discount..Inaugural I Suppose.
