Its the time to say 3 CHEERS and 2 THUMBS UP for the genius Anurag Kashyap..after the success of Dev D , Gulaal is another sureshot SUPERHIT movie and I am sure public will love it ...
As it was the DREAM PROJECT of Anurag and he lovd it more then black friday, no smoking and dev d and put his whole heart and soul in Gulaal but unfortunately the film delayed and stucked in censors just like black friday, but now been completed after 3 years...I have seen the movie and WHAT A MOVIE IT WAS ...if u liked dev d then u will SIMPLY LOVED Gulaal as it is the most accomplished and BEST work of Anurag till date
Dileep [Raj Singh Chaudhary] comes to Jaipur to study. Here, he comesin contact with Rananjay Singh Ransa [Abhimanyu Singh], Jadwal [PankajJha], Anuja [Jesse Randhawa], Dukey Bana [Kay Kay Menon] and Kiran[Ayesha Mohan].
Dukey Bana convinces Ransa to contest the college elections on behalfof the Rajputana party; Ransa and Kiran battle it for GeneralSecretary's post. The rivalry between the two gangs intensifies andRansa is forced to withdraw, which he resists. Eventually, this leadsto his murder by Karan [Aditya Srivastav]. Dileep is compelled tocontest elections in Ransa's place and made to win.
After losing the elections, Kiran tries winning Dileep's trust, getsclose to him and pretends to fall in love. As he tries to fit into theshoes of the General Secretary, an insecure Dileep gets emotionallydependent on Kiran. Dileep finds himself trapped in politicalmanoeuvres. It dawns to him that he is being used by Dukey.
Dukey Bana is masterminding a Rajputana movement, to have a separate state ruled by Rajputs. In a gamut of red faces [gulaal is put over the faces to mask their true identity], Dileep sees the truth behind Dukey and his actions.
Kiran takes charge as the General Secretary. As soon as in power, sherefuses to meet Dileep and tries to get close to Dukey using herfeminine charm. A lovelorn and rejected Dileep gets more and morefrustrated, abusive and violent in desperation. Blinded by his love forKiran, Dileep goes into a frenzy, becoming a sorry and inevitablevictim of circumstances.
The direction and screenplay is just AWESOME, many scenes will live forever in ur mind even after the film ends and will have a lasting and profound effect due to anurag's abstract and deep approach. All the performances were superb but I just loved KK Menon the most. In general...a win win movie in all respects.. A MUST WATCH FOR EVERY CINEMA LOVER
