Vishal-Shekhar or WeShall-ShakeHer....is the question??
Happy days are here again! That’s what the words for all the hindi music lovers would be.
2006 showed great music for ears and made the cash registers jingling with Aksar, Rang De Basanti, Gangster, Fanaa, Phir Hera Pheri, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna already not to forget Omkara,Dhoom II, Lage Raho MunnaBhai, Don II, Rocky and Babul waiting to be released this year.
If we talk about music directors the first 4 places will be reserved by Himesh Reshamiya . In spite of solid criticism it is his movies which are making noises days before their releases be it 36 China Town, Chup Chup Ke, Tom Dick and Harry or you may
say anything is selling with his Tag.
Golmaal meets the expectation of the fans of Vishal-Shakher i.e Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani.
Remind you the duo gave us huge hits like Tu Aashiqui hai - Jhankaar beats, Right here right now - Bluffmaster, O Saaki - Musafir, Dus Bahane - Dus, Meter Down - Taxi No 9211, Ek Ajnabee -Title track, My Dil goes Mmmm - Salaam Namaste.
From the very first movie Jhankaar beatsthey made it clear to the music world that this duo will rock. Yes you read it correct, this young talent are very stylish western kinda music maker other to only Pritam ( Dhoom, Garam Masala fame) and never ever compose songs like ’Dekha hai pehli baar-Saajan’. The depth in their music reveals the hard work and same as Shankar-Ehsan-Loy they make tunes which will grow slowly-slowly on you. They love to experiment and with a variety of tunes which they compose they show that they are going to stay here for long.
Lets not waste time anymore and find out what do they have in their goodie-bag this time!
Kyon Aage Peeche Dolte Ho
Did you hear the ad Kya Aap Close-up karte hai . What if I tell you about a song sung in that style? Wont it be funny?
It will surely be..but Vishal-Shekhar have made it sound so good that it is surely going to top the charts soon.
The tune reminds me of a bhel-puri of Noorjehan’s Jawaan hai Mohabbat and Aake seedhi lagi -Half Ticketfrom the oldies.
The remix by DJ Sami is just some button presses on his Juke box to increase the pace.
The picturization repeats the 50’s fashion, an attempt repeated after Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan - Dil Chaahta hai
Sneha Pant has done justice and Vishal himself accompanies her to make a successful experimental song. Sneha steals the show in the lines
Kya mere deewane ho,
Kya koi parwaane ho,
Kaam kya hai mujhse itna kehdo ji zara...
Rehja Rehja re
After Kajra re .....its Rehja reby the same singer Javed Ali in last year’s biggest hit Kajra re . Javed did have much to do between Shankar Mahadevan and Alisha Chinoy in Kajra re but here his voice impresses.
The lyrics are fresh and new and the tune gives accross-the-border feel to it. With the bhangra beats this song is a sure foot tapping track and its remix has turned out good too. This is no doubt the best song of the movie.
Tere liye banayi hai seene mein ek jagaa re...
Rehja rehja re! rehja rehja re!
Kuch naya ho gaya,
Kya ajab ho gaya...
Nazron si mili nazarein toh gazab ho gaya,
Dhadkoano men kahi,
Dhoom machne lagi...
Jaadu mein tere ye saara jahan kho gaya
Rehna kya door door aaja karib aaja re..
Rehja rehja re! rehja rehja re!
Mere dil vich tu rehja re
Mast Malang
You may like it as its a sure dance number sung by Kunal Ganjawala and Vishal Dadlani .Inspite of being a peppy number its the odd man out in the album.
There is lot of variation in this number but V-S should have worked more on the tune.
The speed after the third line drops to zero and starts again that what shows you V-S love to experiment.
Rok na
Ai zamana hum na rukenge....
Aa zara
Hoja tu bhi apne sang....
Mast malang
Golmaal Theme
Normally themes of comedy movies is suppose to be a slower one but V-S comes out a strange but good composition with few soft instruments and a great whistle.
Golmaal
The title track seems to be highly inspired
by Subah ho gayi mamu - Munna Bhai MBBS. May be that is the reason Shaan is used here too along with K K and Vishal Dadlani .
This is another number which will keep you humming for a while.
Golmaal 2
A rare thing to see! A title track in two different tunes. I remember Pardesi-Raja Hindustani was the last one where the track was composed in 3 tunes for 3 singers viz. Udit, Kumar Sanu & Suresh Wadekar. But a title track, nay never. Vishal Dadlani and Anushka Manchandani(viva fame) have their hands on this one with few change in lyrics here and there.
Tragetted purely for the college going crowd my stand is that this album rocks. Grab a copy if you get a chance or atleast arrange the Rehja Re for ’Suntey Rehja re’ feeling.
After all Kajol has released the music pals!
