I have recently bought a Godrej Window AC - 1.5 Ton. Initially when I decided to go for an AC, Godrej was not the brand I had even thought of. I had prepared my mind to go for LG. When I started my research, I was looking for 1 Ton AC which I still believe is adequate for a room of the size of my bedroom and location of my apartment.

Would like to mention that you have to be very careful when you decide the capacity of AC you would like to go for - as there are so many options available viz. 0.75, 0.8. 1.0, 1.5, 1.6, 2.0 Ton. Deciding factor is basically the room size but along with that you should also watch out your floor, if its a ground floor, a low capacity AC might also work but if you are at top floor with sun burning your roof, you should take the technical advise. I will advise minimum of 1.5 Ton, however, if you can afford go for 2 Ton. As for the apartments which are on the middle floors, 1.5 Ton is generally sufficient in normal conditions.

So coming back to the AC I bought - I was looking for a 1 Ton AC but unfortunately it was not available with the dealer (Digital Shoppy) at that time. So I moved on to Hyderabad Central, there I found the one I was looking for. Everything was fine except Remote Control, I was told that if I wish to go for Remote Control I need to shell out at least two thousand rupees more. So I convinced myself that this is a Window AC, who needs a Remote to operate it. When I was making up my mind the sales representative just took a break and left to attend other customers. So I decided to wait for him and take a look around at other ACs which were on display. I saw a Godrej 1.0 Ton AC which was having a Remote Control as well. On enquiry I got to know that its available at the same price as that of LG without Remote.

I got interested in that and then I saw another Godrej AC which was bigger than the previous one, I was told its 1.5 Ton and it too has a Remote. When I enquired about the price I was told I will get than in 14000 Rs. That was just a little more than what I would have paid for LG. On comparison I concluded -

LG 1.0 Ton without Remote VS Godrej 1.5 Ton with Remote

Now that was a straight forward verdict. I asked Sales Representative and he told me that its a quality product from Godrej. I cross checked with the Sales Manager and he assured me about the performance. I made up my mind at that instant only.

AC was installed the very next day, after installation technician started his check, he found some problem with the sound made by compressor. He called up the Godrej Dealer, they talked for few minutes and after disconnecting the call technician told me that they are replacing this AC with a new AC. I was surprised to hear this, technician told me that he is not satisfied with the sound from compressor which for me was not much of a problem. Next day those guys came with a New AC, installed, checked and verified that everything was working fine.

Since then I am having a cool life. I am using it for past two months. It has rapid cooling, air purifier, bacteria filter, and 4-way cooling. Its front display is lovely - shows room temperature, user-set temperature, fan speed, etc. User can operate all controls from the front display itself. Remote is backlit to enable you to operate your AC at night without switching on any external light. Timer is the extensively used feature and me too use it to my benefit. I put on a timer of two hours when I go to bed and AC will switch off after two hours saving power, electricity bill and money of course. You can also use On Timer as well.

With this AC, I bought a Voltage Stabilizer for 1800 Rs from the dealer itself. Installation has cost me around 500 Rs. So over all my expenses are sum total of 14000 + 01800 + 00500 = 16300 Rs.

I am completely satisfied with the product and would advise you to at least take a look at it when you go around buying an AC. You are welcome to post a message in the form of comment, if you have any query. I would be glad to answer you.
