THE ONLY CHANNEL THAT EXIST TO ME. Review on GO 92.5 FM

Well Mumbai has 6 radio channels but the only one worth listening to is GO 92.5. The remaining channels do play something but I?ve no clue. Stopped listening to them a long time back. I don't know anybody who listens to any other channel cause, to us, there ain?t no other channels. So in Bombay I am stuck up with only one channel, and thank god, its good.(makes up for the bad one's)

This is one channel where I don?t mind listening to the RJ?s speak. And they are the best in the business (sorry Hose - stopped listenin to ur channel too ? I told ya anyway). T-man, Juggu, Savio, Glen, Tarana and Malini rock(don?t know whether Glen is Ex-Andrean School <THE BEST>- for sure an andrean collegiate <NOT best the>- so must be one of those Metallica t-shirt andrean guys who generally go ''Wat ur doing, MEN''). Although I can?t differentiate the guys in their voices. Who cares, they are all great.

Well sometimes they do go overboard by talking way too much, making a music show into a talk show ala Oprah Chopra. But overall they are awesome. Don?t like Shruti cause she plays only hindi stuff. But a good RJ never the less. Projects her voice very well. (since the songs to be played are pre-programmed, the songs played do not reflect the RJ). Don't hear Anish Trivedi any more (he must be the only guy in the whole of bbay to still have a moustache - big F1 fan though - like him for that ) and most of all, I miss Jack. She had a lot of spunk and a giggle to die for. Jack please come Back.

The various shows are good too. Can only listen to the shows ?Good-morning Mumbai? and ?Horn Ok Please?. The Show?Good morning Mumbai? does make one?s drive to work more relaxing and enjoyable. Comprises of trivial arguments between Jaggu and Tarana, spaced between great numbers. Say Good bye to road rage while listening to these guys. Besides they do give traffic updates (never helped me ? Bombay is crazy 24x7). One of the shows has a great Blind Dating game with either a male/female blind date to be taken out with the tab taken care by the station. Get Idiots calling up to get women. Pretty hilarious. Maybe I should call up ? biggest idiot for not calling up. Best of all they've made me listener of the week and put me up on their site (although taken my case on my oakley's in the pic - those glares are worth more than my face, had to have them on to have some value).

With the high license fees in place, don?t see these (English) radio channels surviving too long. I don?t know how one can afford to pay the fees of Rs.10 crore + 15% increase per year charges (started 5 years back - so now its more than $3.5million for Bombay). So the other channels have been forced to play what is commercial. That being Horrible Hindi music. Do apologize to fans of hindi music. But it sucks big time. Except of artists such as Jagjit Singh, A.R.Rehman (Maestro) don?t see anyone good. (Can someone please kill Anu Malik). With only 1 song out of 100 being good, I have to generalize all Hindi music as bad (Even though there are some amazing old numbers ala Kishor Kumar). So inorder to recover the cost of the license fees, would see even Go 92.5 going the hindi way.

What the government should do is decrease the license fees of channels playing English music (even lower for channels playing lesser known genre of music like Jazz, Hip Hop, Alternative rock etc). This way the government can earn more revenue and we can enjoy good radio. The Event Management Industry managed to get their tax down from 50% to 25% (rollings stones immediately came to Bombay after this happened). Benefitted the industry and the revenue of the government has increased fourfold. The same has to be done to the radio industry. Are the radio channels too weak to do this???

If this does not happen, will have to buy that WorldSpace radio( Satellite Radio) and would have to bid farewell to GO 92.5 too,
