The buggers from Global Head Hunt just called and I had good fun. Go through and enjoy, but never get trapped by them!
This is one of those umpteen bogus job providers who are only after your money and nothing else. But, they have better English skills(not really perfect, but still pretty good). So, don't get taken in by the smooth talk delivered in good English.
So about the call now. A girl from Global Head Hunter called, and after the initial 2-3 minutes of regular information exchange(purpose of call, who are they, confirmation for basic things from me, asking me to visit their website and reading out a phone number listed there to make it sound genuine), the call got transferred to an "expert/senior recruitment specialist." This expert told me she has around 10-years of experience and where all she has worked before. However, her entire introduction speech of about 40-seconds was interspersed with at least 25-30 "ok, " making me wonder does she really have 10-years of experience and talks like this with a truckload of "okays" every time she is on phone. That's a warning sign. Never mind, let's go ahead.
Next, she told me her name is Aarohi. Hmmm. Nice name, but doesn't every second TV or movie character has that name today. I am not saying it can't be possible, but it sure rings a warning bell. I'll probably be more comfortable listening to a regular "Neha" or "Priyanka." Oops, did I just drop a hint to the ilk of these fraudsters. Let's move ahead.
She asks me for my introduction and the reason I am looking out for a new job. Sounded a bit strange, but I went ahead and gave her a detailed account of myself. Once I was done, she innocently asks me why I am looking out for a new job. totally confusing me. I told her, "Didn't I just tell you exactly this a moment ago after my introduction?" I told her if she was not listening to what I said, should I repeat it. She said, no, no, it's okay. Surprising, what was okay in that! If she didn't understand what I was saying, she could have again requested it politely. But, I guess, she had directions from her boss, not to spend too much time on things that don't matter.
Aarohi(the song "Kyonki tum hi ho" still ringing in my head) now tells me that she has some really nice jobs lined up for me and if they sound good, I'll need to register by paying a small amount. That's when I confronted her, saying how do I believe that the opportunities you are talking about are genuine ones and not made up by you. So, I would need to have some solid proof that all these opportunities are genuine and do exist. She said we can confirm all this after the registration is complete, that is, after I make the payment. I told I wan the proof before making the payment. To this, she again repeated the same old rant of making the payment first.
But, I stood my ground. At this moment, she asked me to hold for a moment and said she will call her senior. She returned after about a minute and asked me what proof I have that the details on my resume are genuine. Holy cow! Some guts, lady, asking your prospective client to prove his credentials when you are ones who called and are seeking business from me. That's what I told her in a stern voice and asked her to bugger off. Without a moment's delay, the guys promising me my dream job a few minutes ago, disconnected the phone. I just saved myself Rs 5000, though the call did cost me about Rs 5 as I was on roaming while having all this fun.
Moral of the story - Have fun, if you have some spare time, but don't give the scumbags any of your hard-earned money.
