Defective Glasstop Gas stove - Negligence of GLEN

Sharing my recent disappointing experience with Glen, so that it helps future customers in saving their money and time.


Please stay away from them as they lure first about their products and service but don't care about their customers after making sales.


We bought a chimney for Rs.11, 700, and a four-burner Glasstop gas stove for Rs.6300 from Glen's own showroom - Chakara, Chennai on 12 Nov 2020. We both are senior citizens, and my wife witnessed an accident in the kitchen on 28th Jan 2021 around 7 PM.


The glass top stove immediately after being used, a sudden burst took place and it shattered to pieces, with glass pieces scattered throughout the kitchen. She just escaped from this accident by god's grace by few minutes.


We immediately called up Glen Chakara, narrated the incident to one Mr.Srinivasan and Mrs. Yamuna. I asked them to take back the stove the next day and refund the amount. But they asked me to take photos and send them and they would send their technician the next day. So I sent photos and videos to their Whatsapp.


Their technician one Mr.Siva came home the next day and took photos, and said he would send a delivery man that evening to take back the stove. After several phone calls, nobody came.


What followed is the biggest disappointment. Since it was a new stove bought just 2 months back, we asked for a refund as we lost trust in the safety of their Glasstop stove, and we cannot afford to take a risk in future by a new replacement of glass top gas stove. We demanded an apology since they never gave one, as they never felt sorry for the safety of lives during this accident - they did give a namesake sorry in email.


After several phone calls and emails day by day, we came down to accept their offer of exchange of a product, as we thought we could settle down for a stainless steel one. But they played the game of NOT GIVING ACTUAL PRICE quoted on their website, which is Rs. 6221 only. But they quoted Rs.8295 and reduced our stove price for Rs.3935 instead of Rs.6300 and asked us to pay for Rs.4360. So they cleverly cheat me, even from a distressed buyer, by asking to pay Rs, 4360 for Rs.6221 stove and also not taking responsibility for having provided the defective product, for neglecting the accident, and not providing a substitute stove till the matter is settled resulting in unnecessary expenses for us to buy meals outside for about 25 days.


They were still keen on making a profit from the new product in the name of the exchange.


Chakara sales staff, Ms. Yamuna, Mr. Syed, their Manager Mr. Ramanujam did not provide a refund nor solve the exchange offer. When we escalated the issue to Glen Headquarters in Delhi, Ms. Ruchi who is the Customer Service director did not solve the issue as well, after many calls and emails. Also, they did not give a reply to emails. Here you can see their DON'T CARE ATTITUDE and WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. For nearly a month, we had to buy meals from outside as we were waiting for them to resolve the issue, without a gas stove at home.


Mr.Ramanujam and sales staff Ms. Yamuna mentioned at the time of sales that they have excellent customer service. they also mentioned at the time of buying that their support email has the policy of resolving in 48 hours so they always close issues. But clearly one can see they have destroyed the trust of customers and also gave mental torture dragging the issue on and on, and by being silent from 4th Feb 2021.


As of 28th Feb today, there is no response from them and they remain silent.


Please note we had a Faber glass top gas stove prior to this for 6.5 years without any issues, but Glen glass top gas stove shattered to glass pieces in 2 months itself. They have given us the defective products in the first place. Also even if such issues arise, Glen should resolve the matter. But they are giving their own conditions, stay silent, and did not take any responsibility for the incident nor solve the issue.


By this incident, I wish to alert future buyers about the poor quality of their products and not get carried away by their tall claims of their sales staff.


One interesting thing to add here is that I mentioned that I would post my review with them about this issue, they still remain silent without any response. So you can see how badly they treat the buyers. Beware and stay safe.


PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM GLEN FOR YOUR SAFETY, MONEY, EFFORT, AND TIME.


This is my first review online and I strictly condemn their way of providing such service to me, once sales are complete.
