I thought the ghost was one of Danielle Steel's best.
I won't go into the plot to much but it is basicly about a newly divorced man called Charles who finds himself alone at the christmas holidays and rents a house from an old lady.
When he settles in he goes into the loft and discovers a dusty box and in it is a set of journals written 600 years ago written by a girl called Sarah Ferguson and gets caught up in her life.
Her story beging in England 600 years ago while she is married to a tyrant, she suffers six miscarriages before she runs away to America to begin a new life.
She doesn't find the six week journey by ship easy but she knew she had no choice but to leave as her husband would probably kill her if she stayed.
She claims a plot of land and meets a man who teaches her how to survive and she slowly falls in love with him.
Meanwhile Charles has met a woman also newly divorced but very bitter with a lovely daughter and he slowly gains her trust and shares the diaries with her.
It is also a story about America when the Indians lived there. I find most of her books interesting as they contain some periods of history in them for eg zoya was about the russian revolution and many were about Vietnam.I have been a keen reader of Danielle Steele for about 10 years and have read every book she has written and I would safely say it is one of her best.you get so engrossed in the book that you loose track of time and can't put it down
