Surya , was always a different actor. Different in his approach. Different in his roles. From a chennai 'machan' in pithamagan to a suave business tycoon in Ghajini. And yet again , Surya is at his best!
The story in a nutshell : Sanjay Ramaswami (Surya) is a business tycoon; falls in love with aspiring and talkative model (Asin)...and just when you think this perfect couple have nothing barring their way...Asin is murdered , Surya becomes ''15 minute amnesiatic'' ( I hope my grammar's ok!!) and the story changes U-turn , much different than what you thought it would go.
So our thalaivar is helped by an increasingly irritating 'medical student' played by Nayantara (who is gaining weight mysteriously in every movie) .
The story is apparently 'adapted' from the Hollywood 'Memento'.
Good storyline , but with so many loopholes...that it becomes unconvincing. The villain looks stupid , has an irritating accent and the 'double role' is tiresome. Harris Jeyaraj has done an excellent job, all the songs are up to the mark especially 'Rangola'. The picturisation is also pretty good except for 'X Machi' where Nayantara tries to look regaling and scary , but due to her weight and overdone costumes , she looks pitiably amusing.
Asin is wonderful. She is totally natural and carries off her performance with ease. She emotes easily...and atleast she knows how to dance! Hats off to her! Indeed this is one of the rare performances of a tamil actress.
And...Surya. He is sooooo handsome , both as a cool business man and an impatient 'revenger'. What else can I say! Chemistry is wonderful between Surya and Asin.
Watch Ghajini for Asin , for the songs , for the picturisation , for the comedy and for Surya's acting. He rocks!
