Before I go on ranting about about this movie, here's a warning: It's nothing like Memento. Stop comparing it to Memento. There, that settles it. Now onward to the review. Compared to the original Tamil version released 3 years ago [Surya Sivakumar, Asin, Nayantara], this one takes the cake easily. But there are some things that I wished was carried over from tamil though.

For instance, why is the flashback scene in this version so long and a bit dragging? Some scenes in the original were done tad fast, while here 90% is retained from Tamil but the rest felt a bit dragging. A.R Rahman's music too is another sore point. Comparing with Harris Jayaraj's music in the original pales in comparison. They're all slow and make the film loose tempo. Take Behka for example and compare that with Oru Maalai. Though Guzzarish was good as Suttum Vizhi, it again goes back to the tempo that's associated with an action film.

On the plus side though, his BGM pieces in some places were neat while the others were subtle reworks from Jayaraj. The DTS mixing was excellent and H.Sridhar will deeply be missed for his outstanding work in the Audiography department.

Frankly, there's no need to tell you the story of the film since most of the other websites have it (or other reviewers, who are kind enough to give spoilers.) Being the nicest person that I'm, I won't say anything about it and let you go watch it for yourself. Acting wise, Aamir hands down. His phyisque, his body language, his raging emotions. More proof that he's into character driven roles. Asin shines a lot better here than in tamil, where I felt she overreacted. Jiah Khan was subtle and did well in a short lived role. Much better than Kuppa

-Thara (sorry, Nayantara.) Good to hear Pradeep Rawat again with his Punjabi accent in villany. Riyaz Khan repeats his act from Tamil as the bumbling inspector. So what's the final say for the movie? If you've seen the tamil version, watch this one for the second half and the ultimate climax (courtesy of Murgadoss and AK.) Otherwise, have a blast.
