The ambiance is very nice. The outdoor section is full of young people chatting and enjoying themselves even on week-days.
The food is also okay and some dishes are very tasty. Not gourmet level, but good. And unless one likes sour food, one should avoid their German Bakery salad. It was very sour, and though the manager insisted it was dressing, but being an experienced cook myself I knew it was just vinegar. It had no flavouring and too much of it was just poured on to the leaves although the pickled beetroot in the salad was good.
The service is prompt, but waiters are surly overall. We have been there more than 5 times and each time we experienced this. Glum, unsmiling waiters. As if they are being over worked.
It is not surprising that the waiters are surly, because the manager is too. He was insulted that I said the salad was sour! First he said salads are supposed to be sour. Then he said salad dressings are all sour. Then he said their German Bakery salad was sour always and no one has ever complained! This young man 30 years younger to me and he was trying to tell me what salads are made of! Not only am I an experienced cook, I have eaten in all kinds of restaurants, in India and the abroad. But he refused to agree that anything was wrong with the salad though he attempted to provide me with another portion. I didn't want that. I wanted him to be polite which he wasn't. It was like their salad was the greatest when it was the worst I had ever eaten. No flavouring on it at all.
However, this is a place one has no choice but to go again and again and again.
There is nothing like this in the area.
As long as they have no competition this place will thrive.
