Overview Of Site
When I first pulled up the home page of the Gator.com website, The first thing I realized is how simple it appears to navigate.
It stats that the site is the leader in behavioral marketing as it puts it, (tracks peoples browsing habits is the way I put it.) It says it does this by enabling the consumer to download and use software for free, but with a hitch. The hitch is consumers agree to receive targeted promotional emails and pop up adds for using their services.
They offer programs to remember passwords, protect and encrypts your data on your computer, Precision Time, Date Manager and Gain (The Gator Advertising and Information Network).
My personal feelings
No way would I use this service! Here are my personal reasons.
One- You have to agree to accept more pop up adds, and in reality more spam mail to get their software downloads. (No thank you, I had the amount of over a thousand spam mails coming to one of my email accounts without the use of this lovely system. I can only imagine what it would have been had I enlisted the gator company for anything.)
Two- They send this promotional adds and email tailored to your surfing habits. This means they are tracking your movements online. And while I have nothing to hide from them, but I feel it is none of their business where I surf.
In Closing
I guess if you don’t mind being tracked online, and you don’t mind getting more pop up adds and spam then this site has things to offer you. As you may have guessed by this review, I did not sign up for their service.
